Musk gives federal workers a 'second chance' to defend their jobs or
    get fired

A message from Elon Musk asserting that federal employees will be
given "a second chance" to respond to his ultimatum that they justify
their jobs or risk termination is likely to spark another round of
confusion across the U.S. government on Tuesday.

Musk's warning on X, the social media site he owns, came after Trump administration officials told federal workers they did not have to
respond to his weekend email asking them to summarize their
accomplishments of the past week. Failure to reply would be considered
    a resignation, Musk had claimed.

He seems to enjoy eliminating workers, who also support businesses
    with their dollars.

Unemployment rate is about 4% (Jan 2025); my take is it will rise
    this year.

DOGE layoffs could trigger wider unemployment, slow economy: Apollo

Signs of economic weakness have emerged, with the murky outlook for
U.S. tariff and other policies eroding sentiment among consumers and

"Economic policy uncertainty is spiking higher," Slok said, noting
that "near-term downside risks to the economy and markets are
    growing."

"The question is if persistently elevated policy uncertainty will
begin to have a negative impact on capex spending and hiring
    decisions," he said.

The Fed last month held the main interest rate at a range between
4.25% and 4.75%, noting a lack of clarity in federal regulation,
trade, immigration and taxation under the Trump administration.

At what point do we just block X and be done with it? It's not an
official tool of government communications. Block that turd at the
    router.
