The energy level at the military parade here is a bit desultory. The
crowds are calm and light, a bit sapped after waiting in the
oppressive D.C. humidity for hours to make it to this point, and it's
now spitting rain. The announcer stopped with the neat history lesson
just now and an instrumental version of Heart's "Barracuda" is being
    blasted over the loudspeakers.

Washington was covered in a blanket of clouds and smoke from a
wildfire in New Jersey when the parade started at 6 p.m. Light rain
fell shortly after it started. The most likely window for thunderstorm
    activity remained between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., "or maybe even 11 p.m.,"
said Connor Belak, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service
office that covers Baltimore and Washington.

The Golden Knights parachute team just jumped early in the parade, as
looming storms have adjusted more than the start time. They were
    supposed to be the closers.
