    The timeline of the incident began around 1:21 p.m., when a brush fire
    was reported. At around 2 p.m., firefighters responding to the blaze
    reported being shot at by a gunman. Two firefighters were struck and
    later died from their injuries, one from the Coeur d'Alene Fire
    Department and the other from Kootenai County Fire and Rescue. A third firefighter was injured, recently underwent surgery and is in stable
    condition.

    Pretty awful, outrageous stuff.

    Putting my money on "vindictive action against a specific firefighter", retaliation against some firefighter who banged his wife, or something
    personal like that.

    Timothy McVeigh picked the date of his bombing to match the date of the
    Waco siege end date. I've already seen speculation that this could be
    similarly timed naming some local property owned by racists that had
    burned.

    I've also seen this perpetrator's grandfather speculate that the kid (he
    was just 20) had applied to be a fire fighter and was rejected.

    Sadly, both options are plausible and not mutually exclusive.

    Not related sidebar - In another location where I lived, they upped
    the educational requirement for being a fire fighter, so being a high
    school "graduate" is not enough.

    renowned for its reasoning and dispassionate decision-making capacity.

    Be curious to see what the kid says now that they have him. Bet he's
    got some shitty "manifesto" or some shit.

    Ooo - new theory, by me, totally unsubstantiated: fire fighters
    included the father who told his daughter not to continue dating a
    dangerous incel loser. VENGEANCE TIME!
