Senate Democrats Use Rare Law to Force Epstein Files Release
U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Democrats on the
Senate Homeland Security Committee invoked the "Rule of Five," a 1928
federal law requiring government agencies to provide information when
five committee members request it.
The Democrats sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi requesting
all documents, files, evidence and materials related to the Jeffrey
Epstein case, with a deadline of Aug. 15 for compliance and Aug. 29
for briefings.
The Justice Department (DOJ) is not expected to comply with the
request, according to sources familiar with its thinking, potentially triggering an extended legal fight over the rarely-used procedural
tool.
