the latter since that's an incremental update, and if you let it update automatically (versus manually initiating it), it will happen overnight
    while you sleep.

Well apparently it's iOS upgrade time again.

I stopped doing iOS updates via my Mac a few years ago. Not because one
is better than the other, simply because I can launch it on my phone and
forget about it while I do other things. At worst may need a 2nd
    confirmation to install.

Optionally, when it alerts to an update, just confirm for it to do the
update overnight - just plug it in to be sure it's juiced up.

I never even dreamed of updating my iPhone using my Mac. I just let it
update via Wi-Fi. I should let it do it at night but when I get the notification I just do the update right away. It does take a
ridiculously long time and I have very fast Internet service at work,
and pretty fast service at home.

Wifi is much faster. If you have ever looked at the size of the updates
OTA then you must have recognized that these updates are incremental.

OTA can be configured to happen automatically while you sleep an the
    iOS-device is charged.

Don't sit and watch it, then. Set it auto update and get on with life.

that's because you don't know much about ios. there are valid reasons
to use a mac or windows pc to update an ios device, however, speed is
    not one of them.
