• iPhone 15's Braided USB-C Cable Could Be 50% Longer

From badgolferman@21:1/5 to All on Wed Aug 23 14:46:57 2023
Longer cable with more natural resources used. Redesigned box. Yep,
    reduced environmental impact...

Throw in a USB-C charger while you're redesigning the box and making a
longer, more durable cable and set a new trend for Samsung to follow.

    ---------------

The iPhone 15 lineup could come with a braided USB-C charging cable
that is 50% longer than the Lightning cable that comes with current
iPhone models, according to new reports.

Apple device collector "Kosutami," who has revealed most of the details
about the color-matched and braided USB-C to USB-C cables allegedly accompanying the ‌iPhone 15‌ models, now says that the cable is 1.5m in length. The rumor was also shared by "Majin Bu," who added that the new
cables should be much more durable. The longer cable will presumably necessitate redesigned packaging.

The Lightning cable packed with current ‌iPhone‌ models is rubberized, white, and just one meter in length. The new braided cables are
expected to come in black, white, yellow, blue, and orange, at minimum, mirroring a new selection of color options for the ‌iPhone 15‌ series.

You trolls are never happy, are you?

You'd complain if they made the cable longer, or shorter, or a different colour...

A braided cable should be stronger than the flimsy pliable too-short cables that used to come with the iPhone and with the iPad in the box by Apple.

I buy, on Amazon, in packs, 3 foot (short), 6 foot (medium) and 10 foot
(long) cables, where those three sizes suite me & my family perfectly.

Anything shorter than 3 feet is worthless for me & anything longer than 10
feet isn't adding anything useful for me. I mostly use the 6 footers.

So ANYTHING shorter than 3 feet is "worthless"? 35 inches would be
    "worthless".

What? No red cables? I recently bought two red USB-C to USB-C, 2 meter,
    100W capable (20V*5A) cables <https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GZH2WTV>. Red
cables are like red bicycles, they make everything faster.

Seriously, having more rugged cables included with the iPhone is a big
plus. These are the Lightning cables that I use now <https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B1D72PT5> and they are much more durable
than what came with my iPhones.

Braided are better to be sure - that said I have pretty old Apple
lightning cables - only one is gnarly from abuse (the one in the car).

Anything shorter than 3 feet is worthless for me & anything longer than 10 feet isn't adding anything useful for me. I mostly use the 6 footers.

The use case for very short cables:

In the car: the USB out port is very close to the phone "stand" that
sits in a cup holder. Cable is about 40 cm long (if that).

For drone control interfaces: Shortest one I have is about 10 cm long
(provided by the drone maker connecting the controller to the phone).

So - there is a market for everyone even if it doesn't suit you.

Consistently the iTrolls like Jolly Roger completely miss the strategic
point that badgolferman and Hemidactylus made about Apple's repeated decontenting the iPhone and then Apple's brazen lies about why they did it.

What the iTrolls miss is this simple multi-step tactic Apple employs:

Step 1 ==> *Apple (strategically) decontents* the iPhone
Step 2 ==> Then (tactically) *Apple lies about why* they decontented

    ...and then...
Step 3 ==> Apple iTrolls defend (all of) Apple's lies (to the death)!
