This is an adult observation of the actions of Jolly Roger, just now...

I saw that days ago and didn't think anything of it, Jolly Roger.
I don't see how it affects us in any way, shape or form.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Someone with such a small brain like you is
not able to cover the distance to a satellite.

Well, you do need to x-post it for real response.

Qualcomm kills its copy of Apple’s satellite SOS after ten months

Android manufacturers all said "no thanks" to Qualcomm's first swing at
    the idea.

I suspect that the Qualcomm (and other co. cases) required someone to
foot some heavy comms bills to get the comm side going.

In the Apple case, in order to "prime the pump" that heavy tab is being
picked up by Apple in the first couple years. I expect Apple will be
adding a fee structure of some kind at some point for those who expect
to be in situations where such comms might be a life saver.

Personally, if I go on a real deep "away", I'd get a PLB or Sat
messenger and not depend on the narrow use case of a phone that will
likely be completely discharged after 2 or 3 days.

OTOH, transiting some back roads here there is 0 cell coverage, so the
    iPhone option looks very good.

I really don't. You saw Arlen's immediate response, and no doubt his

Speaking of which, Apple just announced they are extending Emergency SOS
via satellite another year, which should *really* chap the troll gang's
asses - you love to see it:

Nice - I look forward to pointing my SO's new iPhone at the sky to see
    it detect a comm sat.
