• How to get iOS v16.7.3 instead of v17.2 for iPhones with iOS v16.7.2?

From Ant@21:1/5 to All on Mon Dec 11 21:26:56 2023
    Hello,

How does one get iOS v16.7.3 instead of v17.2 for iPhones with iOS
v16.7.2? iPhones' iOS v16.7.2's settings -> general -> software update
    doesn't show v16.7.3 anywhere.

Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :)

Why should anyone consider to install such an old interim iOS-version
when there is a newer one? This is nonsense in extremis.

Like yesterday you want to do again non-standard things on your
    (client's?) devices. Stop this crap.

If you are currently on 16.7.2, then 16.7.3 will be available. Assuming that (1) 16.7.3 exists and (2) it was not pulled for whatever reason. Could also
be just a temporary glitch. Stuff happens.

I don't see any references to 16.7.3 in the usual places. Where did you see

It's only just been released (Monday, 11 December, 2023).

    Hi Ant,
iPadOS version 16.7.3 is available to my 5th generation iPad (MP2H2LL/A).

Literally, it says "This update introduces 21 new emjoi" so I wouldn't try
all that hard to get it. I know iOS users get all excited about emoji, but
for some reason, I think the supremely incompetent Apple coders should concentrate on other stuff if the best they can claim about a release is
    that they created 21 emoji.

Apple does tend to ripple updates out around the world to stop servers
being overloaded by all the devices auto-updating at teh same time, so
it may take a day or two (or longer) for an update to show up in all
    regions.

Very true. It will probably be fine for him in a couple days. Just because it was "released" today does not mean that everyone will see it today.

You are commenting things again you do not understand. Apple launches
updates and upgrades simultaneously around the globe. Load alleviation
is reached through the automatic update function on the devices.

Agreed. Your i-device does that for you up to a week depending on where
the update-polling stands in the cycle.

Redditors says Apple is forcing supported iPhones that can run iOS v17.2
will not get v16.7.3 offer. Is that true?

If redditors are saying it then must be true. Despite the fact Apple
haven't done this before and the update is available for all.

Not for me. When I go to settings/genera/software update, there
was no choice of versions to select from.

How do we get another version, if it is possible?

Not sure if it's possible, but Apple seem hell bent for leather to steer everyone up to the latest v. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

It's great for security and fragmentation.

Yep. If there's a way, I bet it involves jumping a lot of hoops
    to accomplish it.

I usually update fairly soon, but it would be nice to have a
    choice.

Choice just isn't apple's way though.

Can't check now as I upgraded to 17.1 a couple of weeks ago but it was
always at the bottom of the screen. I agree 17 was the prominent option,
but if there was an update you'd see both.

Maybe I missed it. I’ll pay closer attention next time.

Very true. It will probably be fine for him in a couple days. Just
because it was "released" today does not mean that everyone will see
    it today.

Completely wrong. If the device actively starts a search it will find
it immediately at the release moment. Everywhere on this planet.

    Nope. Update deployments are staggered.

    Wrong for years.

It used to be there in earlier versions, but now it's gone it seems. I
remember above showed the newer v16 update and then the bottom had v17.
