• iPhone 16 max charge

From sticks@21:1/5 to All on Mon Jun 23 08:57:06 2025
I've had my 16 set to charge only to 90% for some time now, and it has
been working nicely since I set it up. Checking things this morning and
the phone is fully charged at 100%. WTF? Went into settings and it
still is set the same way at 90%. Why would it go to full charge?

That happens from time to time to recalibrate the battery and the
    battery indication.

If that works for you: Limit charging to 80%.

    Yup!

I've set my 16 to only charge to 80% and that is more than enough for
using it through an entire day.

I've had it for 6 months now and my "Maximum Capacity" is still at 100%.

    :-)

OK. That makes sense. Thank you both.

My iPhone 14's capacity is still at 97% after 2 3/4 years of uptime and
daily usage. To charge I use a fast charger with 25 Watt and the
Automator that tells me with a loud voice when the phone reaches the SOC
of 80% and again at 90% and I should disconnect. My wife's iPhone 16 has already the firmware-feature. My Pixel 7 also btw.

My EV is programmed to stop charging at 75% for daily usage. Gives me a
range of 300 km during summertime.

Whoever told you that charging to 100% will result in "bad things"
happening mislead you and shouldn't be trusted on the topic. There's
absolutely nothing wrong with occasionally charging to 100%. This isn't something you need to worry about.
