• I've somehow managed to turn Siri voice responses off

From farter@21:1/5 to All on Thu Feb 9 16:06:23 2023
It used to work fine and now just produces a response
on the screen when I say 'hey siri temperature'

Siri Reponses in settings used to be Automatic
but changing to Prefer Spoken Responses made
no difference. Volume is at the maximum. iOS 16.3
I have done a full shutdown and restart, makes no
    difference.

I did put the volume on minimum while commenting
on a facebook short video with a very irritating canned
audio file and that is when the problem first showed up.
The audio in those still works fine.

Its got Apple stumped. Got a ticket.

We haven't actually done a full reset of the phone, essentially
because I have a full set of cards in the wallet and it would be
a real nuisance to have to enter them all again but I will do
that if Apple doesn't come up with anything better. Or I might
just wait for the next iOS update first before doing that.

Just fixed itself with me doing nothing special.

I was about to try a full reset of the phone which
is a real nuisance given the wallet is full of cards,
loses the siri learnt stuff etc given that the iOS
16.3.1 update a few days ago made no difference.

I had been doing some voice input for facebook video short
comments which does suppress the audio output while doing
the actual voice input and did see that turn the audio back on
again during the voice input a couple of times, but that has
happened a bit in the last week too without seeing sir reply
audio return, so it looks like an unusual bug.

And then it went bad again yesterday and is still bad today.

I had been doing some facebook short video voice comments again.

That does appear to be what triggers the bug.
