    Easy.
Start with this Alan Browne troll as the first to forever killfile.
Then plonk everyone who responds with a +1 to his trolling, one by one.

OTOH, If everyone ignores those they consider to be "their" trolls, then
the end effect would be similar:

    Increase of signal to noise.

I'd rather less signal with much less noise than lots of signal of which
    a great proportion is noise.

This Alan Browne fellow can't stop loving his own trolls.

He trolled the Windows newsgroup saying that he wanted to buy a Microsoft laptop because he didn't like that his Mac was stuck in the walled garden.

And now he's trolling the Apple newsgroups too?

Instead of complaining about trolls, just set up filters.

Here is my filter list from Thunderbird: <https://docs.google.com/document/d/16N5HMDVnr6nzdp-jfNi9JhcNHHkQyITqAcG2ZBBKKFo/>.

Many of those are probably no longer necessary, they just build up over
time, especially as some of the trolls do nymshifting. Some are filters
for off-topic subjects that appear from time to time.

    ftfy

He trolled the Windows newsgroup saying that he wanted to buy a Microsoft laptop because he didn't like that his Mac was stuck in the walled garden.

Well I guess you get an F for reading comprehension. The reason I may
get a MS computer (not a laptop) is to support a legacy app when I
replace this 11 year old iMac (which runs Windows in a vM).
My other options are to find a Mac app that I like or possibly write my own.

    Still out on that one.

But do resume napping. It appears your reading comprehension is low -
possibly due to lack of sleep.

Hi badgolferman and any adults on this newsgroup (about three),

I've never said an incorrect fact, and if I did by sheer mistake, I own up
to it immediately - unlike Steve & the iKooks who are all known liars.

You know this to be true.
Even they know this, but the iKooks will never admit this simple fact.

Yet neither you nor I filter them all out as it's useful to know how people like nospam think - where most of what they say are lies - which is useful
to know _why_ they are so afraid of the truth (which they call trolls).

Despite this thread being authored by one of the ignorant iKooks,
I don't filter anyone but folks who can't ever contribute, such as Alan
Baker or Snit but I keep a whole bunch of trolls in like Jolly Roger
because it's useful to understand how their ignorance controls them.

I even keep Lewis in but I haven't seen his posts lately.
Chris too. And a host of the other ignorant uneducated low-IQ iKooks.

Steve isn't an iKook but he is on the same ignorance scale as nospam is.
That is, sometimes they actually know something - but usually they don't.

It's no longer shocking, for example, that nospam is wrong 80% of the time. Steve too, but Steve is a political animal where nospam is just a liar.

Neither owns any honor. No shame. No dignity.

I'm not sure about Steve but nospam would stab his best friend in the back
if he thought that would defend his fabricated claims about Apple products.

That's the kind of heartless despicable pieces of shit these iKooks are.

As for Steve, if Steve blocks me, and I didn't look, it will be _why_ Steve
is so clueless about a _lot_ of Android things Steve "thinks" he knows.

Steve is nowhere near as ignorant as Alan Browne is, where Alan is on the
level of Jolly Roger in that they're can't even see the obvious (such as
the walled garden which both insists doesn't exist).

For a decade, these idiots have been telling us Apple updates more than
just the last release, for example, which hasn't been true for a decade.

Likewise,l Steve is ignorant that since Android 10, most of Android is
updated asynchronously, where Steve is _still_ unaware Apple only added
that feature in iOS 16 - because Steve filters out facts on purpose.

    So be it.

My goal here is so simple as to be patently obvious:
    a. Converse with adult and teach them and learn from those adults, and,
    b. Show the always ignorant iKooks like Alan Browne for what they are

Note that the iKooks consider ever fact they are unaware of, a troll.
Which, the adults will note, is a _lot_ of facts they consider trolls.

Empson and Steiner are before my time on this newsgroup so I am unfamiliar with them. Lewis is missing but that’s no loss.

I think the term “troll” is so misused that it’s become inconsequential. It
used to be that “trolling” was the act of someone stating something to purposely provoke a reaction. Now anyone who is disagreed with is called a troll.

I do think that, here at least, anyone who dares to question or
criticise Apple, its technology, or its motives, is characterised as a
"troll" or a "liar". I would just state that I have only ever used
iPhones (since smart phones arrived) so I, personally, am not a
detractor. I do like to see other opinions, though and always value
    other views.

Steiner was very polarized in certain ways, IMO, but also missed. IIRC

    Hi badgolferman,

It's a relief to talk to an adult on this newsgroup, where I'm mildly
surprised that David & Michelle are before your time as I remember you (and Steve, in fact) on alt.home.repair for seemingly eons, it seems anyway.

Nonetheless, Michelle deserves honorable mention because it's my
understanding she _started_ and _pushed_ the process for this newsgroup.

Others who were around at the very start may be able to concur or disabuse
me of that recollection. Meanwhile, David Empson was, by far, the most knowledgeable person about Apple products on this newsgroup.

And he did not participate in the troll wars. When he told Jolly Roger and nospam, for example, that IPA backup did NOT occur the way JR & nospam were claiming, they would shut up.

Nobody. And I mean nobody. Nobody shut up Jolly Roger & nospam like an explanation from David Empson.

That's too bad because, today, you can tell nospam and Jolly Roger that
even Apple says they only fully patch the single latest iOS & macOS
version, and both Jolly Roger and nospam (and all the rest of the ignorant trolls like Alan Baker and Alan Browne) will _insists_ Apple didn't say
    that.

You can point to as many Apple and other cites you like which all say the
same thing, and, in fact, they can't find a single cite that says what they claim, and yet even today I saw a few posts from them all saying that Apple doesn't do what Apple themselves says they do.
*Only iOS 16 and macOS 13 get the full patches - nothing else*

If I say that, they won't even click on the links I and others have
provided but if David Empson said that, they'd stop immediately & agree.

The TRUTH is why I miss David Empson.
And an _adult_ is why I miss Michelle Steiner.

Lewis is missing but that's no loss.

Agree on Lewis, where Jolly Roger is his twin in that they respond _differently_ when they defend Apple products to the death.

Their _first_ response is _always_ an ad hominem attack.
More so than nospam's _first_ response, which is usually a denial.

It's only when nospam runs out of his 7 responses to facts he hates about
Apple that the ad hominem attacks begin from nospam.

They begin at the beginning for Lewis and Jolly Roger.

BTW, the fact none of them ever respond with anything other than a half
dozen excuses is how I know they all are uneducated and have a low IQ.

Yes, speed tests are highly dependent on location.

    On the iPhone 11:

    Verizon (Total Wireless) LTE
    223.18 Mb/s Down/38.29 Mb/s Up

    T-Mobile LTE
    7.41 Mb/s Down/0.02 Mb/s Up

I am 1135 feet from the T-Mobile tower with LTE bands supported by my
    iPhone.

I am 746 feet from the AT&T and Verizon tower with LTE bands supported
    by my iPhone

    However...
I just installed the T-Mobile Test Drive on my Pixel 7 Pro and the
    results are much different:

In the same location as the earlier test with the iPhone 11, The Pixel 7
    Pro on T-Mobile is:
    LTE: 92.4 Mb/s Down/9.67 Mb/s Up
    5G: 94.5 Mb/s Down/16.0 Mb/s Up

In a different location in the house the 5GUC logo appears and I get:
272 Mb/s Down/12.3 Mb/s Up. Still not as fast as AT&T's LTE, but close,
at least for download speed. Upload speeds on T-Mobile, whether on LTE
or 5G are lower than AT&T or Verizon.

The iPhone 11 has the same T-Mobile LTE bands as the Pixel 7 Pro,
including 66 and 71 but the iPhone 11 has an Intel modem which is poorer
than the Samsung Exynos 5300g modem in the Pixel 7 Pro so that may
    account for the difference.

I'll redo all the tests for 5G next month to see the results, but I'm
out of data on my Boost plan for the month.

What's funny and quite tellingly ironic, is how much the iKooks in those
days would scream about how many apps Apple had compared to Android.

The tide has turned on Apple.

The iKooks, in those heady days, would scream about how "safe" iOS was
    compared to Android.

The tide has run out on Apple.

In those early days, even the primitive paleolithic iOS GUI was hailed as a universally useful thing, compared to the many Android skins.

The tide has run out on Apple long ago.

More to the current point that Apple lied for the past decade about
updating older releases, in those early days, the iKooks extolled what they thought was the virtue of the monolithic iOS never-ending release mechanism where every line of code required a new release to be built (basically).

Now Apple is left high and dry.

In summary, having been on this newsgroup from the early days, the iKooks
went from hailing what _was_ correct of the iOS advantage over Android...

To now _fabricating_ almost every claim the iKooks make nowadays.

Oh my, how the tide has turned on Apple indeed.
    a. Android was behind
    b. Android caught up
    c. And now, iOS is left in Android's dust

The iKooks can only fabricate iOS functionality now...

Thanks for that clarification, where she gave me my NewsTap license too.

I had brought up Michelle Steiner because she wasn't an iKook, and, like badgolferman and Ant, she was just a normal _adult_ Apple user who didn't
act like Apple was a religious entity to be defended to the death.

On the other hand, David Empson was a Godsend to this child-like newsgroup.

Nobody. And I mean nobody, instantly shut up Jolly Roger & nospam like an explanation from David Empson did.

Time after time after time, Jolly Roger & nospam were put in their place by David Empson when the iKooks claimed mythical Apple religious capabilities.

With David Empson gone, that leaves only the four of the regulars on this newsgroup who aren't iKooks to the iKooks' incessant brazen lies.

That's too bad because, today, those four adults can tell nospam and Jolly Roger thateven Apple says they only fully patch the single latest iOS &
macOS version - but the iKooks will _never_ believe that Apple does that.

The iKooks _hate_ that Apple lied to them for all these years, or, perhaps
they knew Apple was lying and they _hate_ that the four of us found out.

Either way, everything the iKooks have claimed for Apple updates has been a
lie for the past decade, but there's no David Empson to put iKooks in their place.

So you see this very week both Jolly Roger and nospam brazenly denying
every word that Apple wrote on this topic - because they feel that there
isn't anyone of the stature of David Empson to put their lies to rest.

Without David Empson, the iKooks feel confident in their brazen lies.
The iKooks call me a troll, in fact, for pointing out their incessant lies.

And yet, the truth is *Apple has _never_ fully updated an older release*.
But the iKooks refuse to believe that truth because they _hate_ the truth.

    So they lie.
