• Abavia and the bot-spam

From Marco Moock@21:1/5 to All on Thu Feb 29 10:11:20 2024
    Hello!

Since months bot-spam is being injected via abavia.
They don't reply to abuse messages (only an automatic reply).

Is anybody from abavia here to investigate that?

    kind regards

maybe google uses the same "ghost ship" business model that they're using?

I believe both Ray (e-s) and I are catching these and issuing
NoCeM for them. Are there some we are missing? Just asking so I
can try to catch them as best I can.

You can check my nocems. I've canceled those that still appeared in my
rslight instance. I process NoCeM from you and E-S.

Thank you. If you plan to continue producing nocem for de.*, I'll start applying here since I don't read German.

Could you produce a statment, maybe on your rslight instance of what
    criteria you use for nocem?

    In which group?

    I issue them for

    spam (UCE/UBE)
bot-generated/AI spam (like that from Abavia)
    OT/troll flood, like <ungeau$1n1el$1@gwaiyur.mb-net.net> <unb5o8$14mta$1@gwaiyur.mb-net.net>

That guy posts completely topic-unrelated junk to that group for a
relevant amount of time, sometimes crossposted to other groups.

Currently, I do that manually, so the amount of false-positive will
be zero and mostly I only do it for posts that are still on i2pn2
because I use that as an upstream server.
If other people will process my NoCeM, I might do it for other
    hierarchies and posts too.

I like freedom of speech and I won't list posts that I don't like.

The articles in question are neither bot nor AI generated and I would
strongly recommend not to include them in the same category as the
Abavia pseudo discussions. If you really think these low-volume and easy
to killfile warrant NoCeM messages, put them in a category of their own
    like yamo does for pasdenom.

If you're going to continue producing nocem, maybe stick with de.*, and
just explain what you issue them for somewhere on pi-dach.dorfdsl.de. That
way people can decide whether to apply them or not. You can pretty easily
add a line in the nocem script to display link to it.

Ray makes an excellent point in his reply to your message, maybe use a different category (Type) for the nocem. I would need to modify the script
you use to produce them, but that is easy to do.

But since you don't receive the ai generated articles, as they are filtered upstream from you, the above might not be necessary, and you can just make
a statement available using your current nocem settings.

I like freedom of speech and I won't list posts that I don't like.

    Good to hear.
