[ I tried posting what follows on news.groups.proposals on 2023-10-20
and 2023-10-22. On both occasions it did not appear. I'm not sure if
the moderator rejected it for some reason or the moderation software
is malfunctioning and it never reached the eyes of the moderator. So
    I'm posting on news.groups instead.

Nice! when will this be created/announce it so I can share it
on the matrix go groups and such ?
I already have some content to post.
Thanks for the supporters and non-supporters I hope we
can help with this bring new people into our loved
    usenet.

The official control messages for Big-8 groups are actually posted by
the ISC, and I've just seen that they've sent the newgroup message
(thanks, Russ and Todd!). This newgroup message will also get reposted several times to ensure that as many servers as possible receive it.

News providers will then need to act on the control message and create
the group on their servers. I can see that Eternal September has already
    done so.

How long does it typically take ? Because I just checked

    news.i2pn2.org
    news.chmurka.net
    news2.informatik.uni-stuttgart.de
    news.cyber23.de
    paganini.bofh.team
    news.dizum.net
    news.usenet.ovh

and none of them have it. news.mixmin.net has it.

    exists on individual.net and eternal-september

doesn't exist on a giganews outsourced server (no surprise there, I
think they're asleep at the wheel, when I asked for a new alt.* group to
be added they insisted they already had added it, but still haven't).

Splendid. But when I access comp.lang.go through news.mixmin.net I see 21 articles (which makes it all the articles on the group so far apart from <878r8bpet6.fsf@tilde.institute>
    (http://al.howardknight.net/?ID=169823063500)) whereas with news.i2pn2.org
    I don't see anything.

Only articles that are posted after a group is created on a server will appear on that server. Peers generally send articles to each peer as received. If the peer rejects it (no such group), it is not sent again.

Once the peer (in this case news.i2pn2.org) creates the group, it will stop rejecting the articles and you will see them show up on the server.

Sorry about that. I've approved your most recent post. It looks like
some submissions to the newsgroup have been getting misidentified as
spam in the last few days. I'll keep a careful eye on the submissions
queue until I've confirmed that the problem is fixed.

Three copies of the newgroup control message have been posted (on the
9th, 10th, and 16th of October). If a server isn't carrying the group
yet, it might be for one of the following reasons:

    - The control messages have not reached that server for some reason.
    - The server doesn't process newgroup messages automatically, but the
administrator also hasn't added the group manually yet.
    - The server administrator has decided not to add the group.

In all of these cases, it would be worth contacting the news provider to
ask if they can add it.

    Regards,
    Rayner
