• What to respond to xoverview

From Matto Fransen@21:1/5 to All on Fri Feb 10 16:14:42 2023
    Hi,

I see Gnus doing a request: xoverview [range]

I haven't found this request in the RFC.

How should the nntp server respond to this request?

    Thanks again,

    Best regards,

    Matto

The documentation suggests that it is used as an alias for XOVER.

    nntp-xover-commands
List of strings used as commands to fetch NOV lines from a
server. The default value of this variable is ("XOVER" "XOVERVIEW").

I think it may date back to C News? Not sure.

Oops, you are pointing to XROVER.
    XOVER is at https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc2980#section-2.8

    Ah, OK.

I will make it point to the same function for the xover reponse.

    Thanks!
