    As you see there is no new messages in group. However, Sylpheed
    will highligh the group like there is a new message. How to avoid
    such behaviour?

    If Sylpheed wants the information, it has to count the number of messages:

    LISTGROUP somegroup1
    211 1 1 1 somegroup1
    .

    It will see that no article numbers are returned.

    At least, this behaviour will work with all news servers. (Note that
    this behaviour complies with NNTP standard, it is not a bug.)

    As for INN specifically, we spoke last year with Paolo of a suggestion
    to have nnrpd count and advertise the real number when the estimated
    number is inferior to a value given in a "groupexactcount" parameter in inn.conf and readers.conf (set to 5 by default).

    I think it would be helpful. Thanks for rising that subject again.
    I'll maybe prioritize it.
