Are you or anyone else able to access news groups from Thunderbird 139+ on
Windows 10? I've used Thunderbird over the years, but for the life of me I
can't find how to actually view the newsgroups after I configure a news
server account. I don't see the newsgroups icon on the left hand nav/tool
bar. Is there some special trick or other method you are supposed to use to
    access this?

Thanks a lot, I'll check that ng. I still have my install of Xnews, which
continues to work flawlessly on Windows. But it would be nice to be able to
make use of Thunderbird as well.

yes, and good luck with using t-bird (mozilla thunderbird is probably the
most popular usenet newsreader in the world today) . . . i used xnews for several years before switching to 40tude almost twenty years ago (i liked
xnews for many reasons, slrn-style scoring, etc., but non-ascii character
sets wouldn't display, and 40tude always had the best features especially
for scoring) . . . sometimes legacy freeware (unmaintained, abandoned) is
nice since it doesn't get nagging updates (which mozilla is notorious for)

Yeah I love some of the old legacy software. I've not heard of 40tude but
will also check that out. I remember using Newsreader/2 on OS/2 Warp many a
years ago, and I also enjoyed that at the time. Interestingly, the old
Outlook Express had fairly good newsgroup features built in. I used to use
    that often as well.

Thanks a lot for the link and suggestion. But this is the exact problem --
regardless of whether I add a newsgroup account, I don't see its respective
icon populate on the left hand panel. So there is nothing for me to "right
click" on to select settings or anything that would facilitate subscribing
    to any newsgroups.

I already set up 2 separate newsgroup accounts which I have access to, and
they don't show on the left hand panel.

From what I'm seeing, it really looks like some sort of bug in the current
version of Thunderbird that I have installed. It's either that, or there's
some crazy alternate procedure that is seemingly unintuitive.
