When the USA speaks, Luxon jumps. The amount was only $1m, but Luxon
wanted to make the point that New Zealand takes it's lead from the
    USA.

Luxon said that "New Zealand's contribution is $1 million and is part
of a wider $10 million in humanitarian assistance for Gaza through the
Red Cross and World Food Programme."

So what is the problem? the accusations were about 7 out of around
13,000 workers for the United Nations - the Red Cross and World Food
Programme have their own people in Gaza - no, this is just an excuse
to snuggle up to the USA. Shame on Luxon. Let us hope Winston can get
through his ""investigation"" before thousands more die . . . but
Winston will probably use this to grandstand for at least a couple of
    days.

    Meanwhile: https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/world/507885/gaza-aid-agency-extremely-desperate-after-funding-halted

    and https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/world/507798/un-urges-reversal-of-funding-pause-for-palestinian-agency-vows-accountability-with-staffers

A government that cares more about grandstanding then lives, and more
about tax cuts than looking after those in need. They are disgraceful.

Not them, you - you were determined to attack this governmnent from the day it became obvious that the previous undemocratically behaved govertnment was about to be pissed into the gutter, where they belong.
    You are the disgrace.

about tax cuts than looking after those in need. They are disgraceful.

A post from someone who cares more about supporting the Labour/Greens combination with political rhetoric such as this than acknowledging
that Labour stuffed up big time between the 2020 and 2023 elections.

All of what was said in the post above is contestable but there is no
point when you are so blind that you think the political compass
website correctly defines where NZ political parties fall in the
    left/right spectrum.

The situation with UNRWA funding is paused (not cancelled) and rightly
so given that the 7 so far identified may be the tip of a very large
iceberg of UN corruption. Or it may not. We need to be very careful
who we fund with taxpayer-funded aid.

We have been making payments through the Red Cross and World Food
Programme, who will be working alongside the UN people, but there has
been no suggestion of them doing anything wrong.

The purported offences have been said to be in relation to the initial terrorism by Hamas when they kidnapped a lot of Israeli citizens - the
work of the UNWRA people has moved a long way from that.

It has now also been said that we were not going to make that next
payment for some time anyway, so this announcement was more about
publicity for the new close linkage of our policies re Israel/Gaza to
those of the USA. Still reprehensible; but it explains what Winston is
likely to be doing to be satisfied - waiting for the USA to tell him
    when to be satisfied . . .
