    No.
That is an understandable reaction from Tony - he has an aversion to
debate at the best of times, but expressed as what he possibly saw as
an instruction, he naturally reacts negatively. Would you have been
more inclined to debate he topic if it had read "Debate?" Tony.

I did notice that the only political reference in the article was to
    Donald Trump :
"The article gave examples of cases such as 4chan with the usage of
the OK gesture as a white power symbol and the Trump administration
where there were deliberate ambiguities over whether something was
serious or intended as a parody, where people were using Poe's law as
"a refuge" to camouflage beliefs that would otherwise be considered unacceptable." and then referenced : https://www.wired.com/2017/06/poes-law-troll-cultures-central-rule/
which unfortunately is behind a paywall.

The quotation from the wikipedia article that links Poe's Law to the
    right in New Zealand is:
"The article gave examples of cases such as 4chan with the usage of
the OK gesture as a white power symbol and the Trump administration
where there were deliberate ambiguities over whether something was
serious or intended as a parody, where people were using Poe's law as
"a refuge" to camouflage beliefs that would otherwise be considered unacceptable.[9]"

The Right in New Zealand have changed since the days of Dirty Tricks -
previous National Party leaders would not have tolerated the implicit
support to anti-Vax extremists, but both ACT and NZ First have brought
those views into their caucus - they know that the majority of
government MPS will not allow such views to get any further, but
helped them win an election. More insidious were their actions on
Water, where they are pushing costs to local authorities, and using
that to force rates increases that enable them to at the same time
flatten income tax - it all repays backers though Atlas Network
entities to achieve their goals of flatter income taxes, and an
increase in user pays and local rates that will result in greater
inequality; and repaying the donations from landlords and other
wealthy people to give them a good return on their investment through
the Taxpayer Union and NZ Initiative and other political fronts.

So yes, Poe's Law does apply more to the Right than to other parts of
New Zealand society, but it is hidden behind a huge amount of money
that does not get covered by current political rules . . .
