I have raised the issue of paying more to banks and suppliers of fundsIt matters not what you say about three waters. It was to your eternal shame your favourite attack on democracy. It cannot, be definition, ever be allowed to resurface its evil head. It is not and was not a solution to anything therefore.
than is necessary - but Simeon Brown clearly does not understand
finances - and all for playing short term politics, and heading
Aucklanders to say 20 to 100 basis points higher than necessary - that >reduces borrowing capacity, which slows work down.
Three Waters avoided this problem by creating entities that would have
been large enough to operate at adequate scale over the whole country,
and with government guarantee would have had lower costs than the
Council owned entity they have put together for Auckland. They
rejected Three waters for racist reasons, but have tried to justify it
by creating a more expensive structure, which won't even work well for >Auckland, and may be impossible for the rest of the country. That
racism was pushed by the "NZ Taxpayers Union", a far-right group that
can now be seen to be heading towards costing Auckland water users and >ratepayers (pretty much the same groups) far more in local taxes,
without having much if any effect on the needs for income tax - I
suspect not even that propaganda organisation realised how bad the
government would bungle this one. In reality if (/when) it falls over
the government will have to step in anyway under this government
Aucklanders are headed towards the Thames water model - the previous >Labour/Green/ Te Pati Maori wanted model more like Scottish Water . .

So you can't defend the appalling financial structure being set up by >National - it is telling that the Finance Minister was totally missing
from the discussions on this - she could not see that the Government
cannot pretend it is not ultimately responsible, and that overall,
what they propose will cost Aucklanders tens of millions more than
necessary - to enrich the lenders.
