    It seems the world is moving on, reducing significantly the use of
    fossil fuels and turning to solar and wind as the two most favoured
    ways of generating electricity.

    Part of that is straightforward economics - use the cheapest means of generation available, but the Climate Change treaty will also be
    helping - those that meet targets will be better off financially than
    those that do not.

    There is a long way to go however - 30% renewables is still not good
    enough; and the international agreement that National signed us up to
    all those years ago requires further work from our government urgently
    - but will Shane Jones let National do the right thing?

    If economics governed that renewables would have a lower power price and the transistion would be complete (in time). No more coal power stations, in
    China say.
