• Gross over-reaction from Maori over Government changes

From Crash@21:1/5 to All on Tue Aug 20 16:57:34 2024
It is a bit sobering to see Tuku Morgan and others with a
verbally-aggressive response to recent government changes that they
perceive disadvantage Maori. Lets start with some historical
    perspective:

    1. Repealing Section 7AA of the Oranga Tamariki Act.

Whatever the opinion on this is, it was enacted in 2019.

    2. Abolition of Maori Wards in local government.

The introduction of compulsory Maori wards was for the 2022 local body elections.

There may be other things the Government is repealing in respect of
Maori, but so far it takes us back to the status quo of 2019, not 50
    years ago as Morgan claims.

When people think something is being removed, they do not often look tfor logic but merely react angrily. And on this occasion there is greed, and entitlement at play as well as politics.

The Governments actions are really nothing more that the "other side" having
a say. Something some Maori hare having issues with.
