No wonder Tarrant got a licence, this level of competence appears to have been inherited.

This "article" is written by an anonymous author, with "more
information" leading to an account on X for the ACT political party: https://x.com/napoleonbusch2/status/1826301983336399221

Part of the article at that site gives part only of a letter from the
firearms authority, which merely requests a criminal record check and
a link to the NZ immigration site for information about how to request
that check. Nothing about asking the current authorities in
Afghanistan. There is nothing to indicate that the information has
been checked for truthfulness or completeness -or even if the
correspondence was very recent or from years ago - or if it is all a
con from a NZ Taxpayer Union entity that has been crafted by a minion
to suck in the gullible. . .

"The Centrist" is just the latest of the 'anonymous' opinion pusher
websites - previous iterations foundered in the face of extremism
    and half-truths (to be generous).

See if you can find any reference to this muck-raking anywhere else,
Tony - you may like to start with the comments on the post under the Z
item - a mix of supporters of the applicant and those seeing that
perhaps not all information has been given. .

It is relevant - the premise that the ex-soldier needed to get data
from Afghanistan appears not to be true.

So you miss even the obvious comparison with Dirty Tricks - largely
different players possibly, but we have seen some names move from the
NZ Taxpayers Union to the website that the Centrist replaced, and
possibly now writing for this website that needs to protect its
    writers from being identified.

The big clue Tony is That it appears the whole thing is a fabrication,
that no statement from the Taliban was ever required; it is just a
beat-up to sling mud at innocent public servants - it may have escaped
your notice but ACT/NZ1st/Nat have been in charge of these
requirements since last November - if there is now such a requirement
will have been put there by that great advocate of gun safety Nicole
McKee who wants greater freedom to own guns . . . why are you not
    blaming her?
