• Motorway Vs Expressway

From Lawrence D'Oliveiro@21:1/5 to All on Tue Sep 3 01:58:33 2024
So we’re getting another stretch of road with a 110km/h speed limit <https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/transport-minister-simeon-brown-announces-new-kapiti-expressway-speed-limit/YPLZIH55B5CGBFT32EFGNQ3QZE/>.
And just like the current stretch, this is an “expressway” rather than
    a “motorway”.

Odd, isn’t it? I thought expressways were kind of a step down in grade
from a motorway, yet we have sections of the former where you can
travel faster than any part of the latter.

Typically motorways do not permit stopping except in emergency and are access limited (no learners, cyclists etc.).
    Expressways can have lesser constraints.
