• Trump is a Fascist

Sometimes being honest and putting the country ahead of your own
interests is the best anyone can do.

This article reminds me that recently John Key made it clear that he
thinks Trump would be the best President for New Zealand - because
Trump may result in better short term profits for a Company that he
    has been appointed a Director!

Christopher Luxon is being careful not to comment on the USA election,
but this betrayal of world and New Zealand interests by a past Prime
Minister of New Zealand really is quite offensive.

One more week - and we can only hope that Trump is soundly defeated,
in the interests of the whole world.

Trump will not be soundly defeated, the election has been stolen, and it
does not matter who gets in.

The US of A is tenth on the list of country most likely to collaspe.

I would say the majority of politicians here in NZ do indeed put the
interests of the country ahead of those of their political party. How else could you run a functioning democracy?

Fun fact: in spite of their much-vaunted “First Amendment”, the US
actually scores quite poorly on press freedom -- number 55 on a list of
    180 nations <https://rsf.org/en/index>.

You are off topic in this thread, Mutley - if you want to talk about
New Zealand politicians post in a new thread, and provide some
evidence of your disgraceful slur on Ardern.

To get back on topic, see: https://forward.com/opinion/667660/trump-hitler-generals-fascist/

Now the Mary Trump article calls him a fascist, but the later article
points out that he is not really - he is just ignorant and deranged:

"Following The Atlantics report that former President Donald Trump
told a senior aide that he needed the kind of generals Hitler had, I
spoke with Omer Bartov, the Israeli-born professor of Holocaust
studies and antisemitism at Brown University. Bartovs 2018 National
Jewish Book Award-winning Anatomy of a Genocide: The Life and Death of
a Town Called Buczacz examined how community conflict can turn into
    genocide.

Bartov told me he sees the signs of proto-fascism in Trump and his supporters, but stressed that its important to pay attention to the
one major similarity between German society then and America today: a
    deep sense of resentment.

There are large sections of the population in America that simply
feel cheated, he told me. There is a social and economic malaise in
the United States, and Trump is the expression of it, but doing away
with him will not resolve the issue itself.

    And later:

"So Trump is saying, I want people who will do whatever I ask, no
    matter what.

Thats why I say its a combination of ignorance and authoritarianism.
Hes attracted to Hitler because he thinks Hitler was so strong, and
hes ignorant that the army was actually the tool of genocide in
    Hitlers hands.

Is it Trumps way of saying that for him, the supreme virtue is
    loyalty?

Yes, it is. Its the Mafia approach. Hitler insisted on a personal
oath of loyalty to him that every soldier being recruited to the
military had to take. Trump demands complete loyalty and he would turn viciously against anyone who, in his mind, is no longer loyal. Its
not just a fascist thing. Its really the way that any self-respecting
    criminal organization works."

So however you look at it, I believe that Trump is a worse politician,
or person, for the USA than any past or present New Zealand politician
has been or is for New Zealand. As the article finishes: "Its by and
large an authoritarian, populist, and generally white supremacist
movement, although he does have support also from non-white elements
in the society." That may sound to some New Zealanders as similar to
the ACT party or perhaps more particularly the propaganda peddled by
the NZ Taxpayer Union - but without the Mafia approach . . .

His support seems to be primarily religious, i.e. evangelical Christian. Remember that he has never won the popular vote in a Presidential
election, and whatever the outcome of the next one, he’s not likely to win the popular vote there, either. The only reason he got in last time was
because of this slavery-era holdover called the “Electoral College”. And
it could indeed hand the Presidency to him again.

We have our own religious right, exemplified by Brian Tamaki and his
crowd. Luckily, NZ’s tradition of godless atheist socialist liberal
secular democracy seems to be holding up so far, and Tamaki’s attempts to launch religious-based political parties keep failing.

If Harris gets in, the wars will continue. Trump is a slightly better choice between two appalling candidates. Sadly either will do harm to the world.

Maybe, however I don't know anybody who is right wing. There are no such in >>this news group and none in our elected government.. Maybe you have intimate >>knowledge of such people. It would be fasciniating to know.

Denial is not a river in Egypt, Tony. Try finding any reference to
anyone else holding your purported views - you appear to believe a
wild assertion from you amounts to absolute proof . . . self-delusion
    may indicate wider problems . . .
Instead of that unintelligent and meaningless drivel, read this. Then address what I wrote instead of being abusive.

You have got carried away with far-right rhetoric, Tony. Socialism is
    not marxism.
They are synonymous in the minds of most thinking people. In your case, your tiny mind cannot understand the link.
I don't know any far right people, neither do you. They are a rarity in this country except in the minds of marxists like you and your masters.
