    The Privacy Act says that companies/departments have to inform you why they want the information and to whom they will share it with.

    It seems to me in this case they forgot to do this. The taxpayers info just flew out the door in exchange for some payment.

    So how far up the chain of command did this go? Who knew and when did they know?

    Agreed. The IRD is arguing that as the data was anonymised it was not
    a breach of privacy. The fact that Meta could match data to Facebook subscribers seems very murky to me.
