    This is what happens in a rigid two-party system -- you can’t have proper democracy.

    We currently have six parties in Parliament, three of which are part of
    the Government. And we’ve never once had deadlocks that led to entire shutdown of Government operations, as has happened all too often under the
    US system.

    When NZ had a two party system (FPP) did it have a deadlock?
