Ahhh Rich - you don't seem to be able to differentiate between 'hoard
and 'earn'. Why am I not surprised.

You make him sound like Scrooge McDuck with all his cash stored in a 3
    cubic acre money bin.

Nobody of substantial means just parks their money.

What do you think Elon Musk does with his wealth?

Perhaps you have not been following the news, Bill. He invests it of
course! He invested millions with the Trump campaign for example, and
while I have not seen certainty of return from that investment yet, on
the news today was a meeting between Elon Musk and Donald Trump
relating to the Space-Ex programme - where government support for that programme may well return billions to that minor interest of Elon
Musk; and there has certainly been talk of Musk being appointed to a significant position in the Trump administration.

Such investments are of course not as readily analyzed as an
investment in say shares, but from all accounts Elon Musk is likely to
do very well from Government Money in contracts relating to Space-Ex.

Indeed he may, just as left wing organisations have done very well out of government money here and overseas for generations.
    Such is life and politics.

I think you are being a bit loose with the term "investment". For us
mere mortals we invest to get a promised return, with varying levels
of risk (from no return to much more than anticipated.

Musk did not invest in Trumps campaign - he donated to it, and
presumably it was spent on the election campaign. While he may well
hope to get some influence with Trump because of his donation
(possibly a job in his cabinet) any such influence is the result of
his donation, not a return on investment.

Such investments are of course not as readily analyzed as an
investment in say shares, but from all accounts Elon Musk is likely to
do very well from Government Money in contracts relating to Space-Ex.

If this were to occur it would be called corruption, not a return on investment.

What will attract the advertisers, then? Whom will they be advertising to?

Without advertisers, where is the revenue going to come from?

Now you see why X/Twitter continues to lose money.

If only governments would do the same.

You want Governments to be run like businesses? Would free-market
competition apply? That is, you could freely choose which Government you
wanted to live under? Like you can choose which electricity supplier or Internet service provider connects to your house, there would be another
cable or pipe coming in marked “Government”?

    What news?

    He invests it of course!

    The hell you say!

So he doesn't store his wealth up just so other people can't have it.
So why did you post a link to a meme implying that he does?

He invested millions with the Trump campaign for example,

How much did he "invest" and why pick on the Trump campaign? What
about all the money coming from the likes of George Soros and front
groups to pay for the Harris campaign, particularly since the Harris
campaign raised more than twice the funds the Trump campaign
    attracted?

and while I have not seen certainty of return from that investment yet, on >the news today was a meeting between Elon Musk and Donald Trump

He has been further ahead of the space game than NASA has been of
late. No surprises there of course. NASA has become a hornet's nest of diversity hire, climate fraud and wokeism. Maybe Elon Musk and Vivek
Ramaswami can make NASA great again as leaders of President Trump's
department of government efficiency. Here's hoping.

Such investments are of course not as readily analyzed as an

The government might do well out of him too. Who better for NASA to
