    Saw reports on this on both TV news channels this evening, and neither has
    made any mention of the popular response to this killing. Online I am
    seeing stories of the sheer ruthlessness and greed with which US health insurance companies have been treating their customers.

    Let us just hope it never happens here.

    Examples of these stories:

    * Claim for birth of someone’s daughter was denied because she was not
    named on the policy in effect at the time of her birth.
    * An expensive surgical procedure approved by the insurer, undergone,
    and then a bill received a month later in which it had been
    retroactively unapproved.
