Remember the noise about claims of misuse of census data in 2023? The organization involved, Whānau Ora, was specifically contracted by
Stats NZ to increase Māori participation in the Census, and by all
accounts it delivered in spades.
Part of the incentive scheme was giving $100 food vouchers to
participants who completed their census forms. This was agreed
up-front in the contract with Stats NZ. And it seems to have worked
rather well.
Also interesting is that all of the “whistleblowers” who were alleging wrongdoing at Manurewa Marae had connections to Destiny Church.
