    or just a rort.

It certainly is not justified and it certainly will not help the trees.

It certainly is a bizarre story! Apparently there was a story a few
months earlier, but I was not able to see that one - if you have the
    link I would appreciate it.

They now say they have got to the bottom of it, but then say they are
being refused more detail on the cost. $4 million is a huge amount of
money! - not as expensive as the Treaty Bill that has just started
Select Committee hearing , but definitely worth pursuing.

To have a Registered Charity making such payments suggests there may
be more surprises in store; but it is not clear that is a charitable organisation - Te Tira Whakamataki Limited sounds more like a limited
liability company. Very strange - does the NZ Taxpayer Union have the
right person investigating this one? Such obvious discrepancies may
be part of why they are not getting traction in main-stream media.

Then there is the even more startling request to assist the NZ
Taxpayer Union with more money to help them find out more - but surely
all they need to do is ask? The current government have made
statements about being very supportive about departments giving
information asked through Freedom of Information requests, and the NZ
Taxpayer Union is hardly short of either money or the ability to make
contact with Ministers! - for MBIE they have a choice of getting
Nicola Willis - all they have to do is draft a suitable letter to the
Minister so it can be passed to MBIE with a "please explain!"

So there is more than one aspect that is clearly bizarre, Tony. Well
done on spotting it and posting about it.

If you do find out more, do let us know . . .

It is very clear that they are a registered charity. Took me 15 seconds to check.
There are many limited liability companies that are charities, and a very large number of chariities are companies. The exceptions are societies and charitable trusts.
Maybe you should learn to use Google, it is moderately worthwhile.

So far they got it right, why do you ask such a silly question? Nothing strange here apart from the waste of money.

Then there is the even more startling request to assist the NZ
Taxpayer Union with more money to help them find out more - but surely

Talk about bizarre, that is a worse than bizarre statement. The TPU are funded by ordinary people.
    Off topic.

    Off topic.

Clearly you agree it is a waste of taxpayer's money - so why do you have to use absurd abusive sarcasm?

I don't know enough about it
Then why did you post such abusive nonsense?
A simple search would have found everything you needed to show what a waste of money this is.
    - the NZ Taxpayers Union don't appear to
have asked before rushing to print
They published the story months ago, no rush by them. And they have showed that the monsy is wasted. What else do you need to know?
    - but then they are a propaganda /
    political financing organisation, not journalists
Just like you and yet you post bullshit all the time.
They are doing what they promissed to do, hold the government to account. You should try it, it is called honesty.
