WP says Trump is already having impact globally “Trump is completely right and

Then when asked about Trump exiting the Paris Accord WP says :

“If China India Russia United States aren’t in it then why are we draining our
economy to pay 32 billion to another economy? We will run ourselves broke and that is not an answer”

All 3 leaders have hinted on future policies they will campaign on, two choosing neoliberal globalism, one staying with Populism.

Luxon - Privatisation & asset sales
Seymour - Privatisation & asset sales
Peters - Economic & civic Nationalism

Good to see Winston starting to remind the voters how go woke, go broke

Correct. Even if Climate Change is caused by humans, the proportion
of that attributed to NZ is so microscopically small that we do not
count. Put simply, it does not matter what NZ does to mitigate
human-caused climate change, it will happen anyway. We can have the
best mitigation of climate change in place but the weather bombs will
keep coming because climate change will continue.

Having said that Winston Peters is pontificating not because he is

Two problems with that - first if we abandon actions relating to

possible that the USA under Trump would not care, but other countries

In respect of reneging on international agreements, many countries do

We are not in the same position as the USA - they have a much larger
domestic economy, and has been shown can play with threats regarding
imports from other countries to get them to toe the MAGA line. We are
not in a position to negotiate - if a country declines to buy from us
there is little we can do . . .

no position to dictate to us on climate change issues. We will suffer
the consequences of their polluting activity with weather bombs etc.
no matter what we do or do not do..
Absolutely - and as we now know those effects are likely to be
world-wide and indiscriminate, but that is why I used the example :
"how would you feel about China, or the EU for example deciding to
make an example of New Zealand on those grounds?"

The second one is that following Trump may not be the best idea for

Why on earth will the 2028 Presidential election in the USA be of any >relevance to this?
I was referring to our ostensible Prime Minister going along with
inherent racism from ACT and NZ First - his feeble protests just
emphasise his lack of authority; similarly he will go along with more
pollution from the other two coalition party policies, as well as the
nutty proposals to direct a bigger percentage of profits on NZ
products going to overseas owners. Some in National are getting
concerned that ACT and NZ First are gaining support from different
groups of die-hard nutters, and ultimately that they will take away
sufficient of the National Vote that they may lose the next New
    Zealand election.

most recent and extreme example. If the USA can arbitrarily exit the
    Paris accord, so can we.
We are not in the same position as the USA - they have a much larger
domestic economy, and has been shown can play with threats regarding
imports from other countries to get them to toe the MAGA line. We are
not in a position to negotiate - if a country declines to buy from us
there is little we can do . . .
You have not shown any reason why they should do so as a result of our actions on this matter (whatever they are in the future). You are guessing.

Northern Hemisphere countries, not just China and the EU group, are in
no position to dictate to us on climate change issues.
    Irrelevant.

The second one is that following Trump may not be the best idea for >>>gaining support at the next election to remain in power . . . - some
will say there is no chance of that . . .

Why on earth will the 2028 Presidential election in the USA be of any >>relevance to this?
I was referring to our ostensible Prime Minister going along with
inherent racism from ACT and NZ First
He is not and they are not doing that.
    - his feeble protests just
emphasise his lack of authority; similarly he will go along with more >pollution from the other two coalition party policies, as well as the
nutty proposals to direct a bigger percentage of profits on NZ
products going to overseas owners. Some in National are getting
concerned that ACT and NZ First are gaining support from different
groups of die-hard nutters, and ultimately that they will take away >sufficient of the National Vote that they may lose the next New
    Zealand election.
A new topic, why don't you start one?

Having said that Winston Peters is pontificating not because he is >>>>correct but because this is his modus operandi - show time folks, roll >>>>up and vote Winston.
