For now, we have freedom of speech in this country.

Not that Rich wants that - he and his fellow travellers follow the path of absolute subservience to "the state" and suppression of freedom of expression. He is a dinosaur and a pathetic little troll.
No abuse there Gordon, as you will note, just verifiable fact.

Way too long and no perspective on NZ. What point are you making
about this commentary on US politics Rich?

Rich is here to use up others' time and energy, i.e., troll, not to
    make any serious points.

The point of reflection is to consider an issue from different
viewpoints, whether personal, or in relation to the situation we find ourselves. While the article appears to be based on religious script,
which is much more readily accepted in the USA than here in NZ, there
is little difference really in that compassion as a concept has a
similar meaning and suitability of application in both countries, but
in both countries we have a government that appears to reject the
concept of compassion almost entirely - there are considerable
similarities between the ostensible leader of our government, for
example, and Trump - see for example: https://sapphia.substack.com/p/were-politicians-ever-honest
    and
    https://mountaintui.substack.com/p/the-condundrum-of-david-seymour

But aside from personalities, look at actual policies - the most
significant common feature of the NZ government and the new regime in
the USA is the total lack of compassion.

    I hope that helps . . . .

We do not have an ostensible leader of the government. If that were correct it would equally apply to Ardern in her first term and I am sure you would never have made that comment about her.
The last governmment showed no compassion, this one is at least trying to redress that situation.
