• Increased Powers Of =?UTF-8?B?Q2l0aXplbuKAmXM=?= Arrest

From Lawrence D'Oliveiro@21:1/5 to All on Thu Feb 27 06:24:21 2025
Remember how, when NatActIrst announced the setup of that advisory group
headed by Sonny Kaushal, to come up with ideas about how to address retail crime, I said that it would be a convenient excuse for the Government to
blame somebody else for ideas that didn’t work?

I think that’s happening, with this proposal to increase powers of citizen’s arrest. A certain group seems to be in favour of it, but increasingly we are seeing reasons coming to the fore why it’s likely to
    be a really bad idea.

I suspect it was an attempt to distract from the school lunches
problems, which are in turn a result of the increase in poverty in New
    Zealand.
