Slate Auto has done what should have been done long ago, make the EV cheap
    and chips.

" ..has approached the EV game with a focus on making its models as simple as possible.
As such, the cheapest variants don’t come with a touchscreen, sound system (only a cradle for you to place your phone on), or even electric windows. That’s
right, this new EV can be had with wind-up windows."

It also looks like a ute. No ipad on wheels to cause distraction and maybe
    no auto drive crashing.

    For "short" hall city driving.

Some days some folks have just had a thought, Why are we going along this
    path?

Ignoring the fact that it's pointless ute / SUV, it is ugly, plastic,
and unpainted. It might outsell the equally awful Tesla Cybertruck, but
will still not sell in huge numbers and likely just another "startup"
EV company that will be gone within a year leaving anyone silly enough
to buy one with no way to get it spare parts. The fast "development"
time will also mean it is full of problems, like any first release
product. Stay well away from it if it does ever make it to New Zealand.

I think there is a good market for a 2 door pickup in NZ if the price
    is right.

There is a good market ... for the established, well-known brands. An
unknown newcomer with a product that looks like it was designed by a 5
year old and built by Mattel out of plastic doesn't stand much of a
chance. Even the SUV version only has two doors, so won't appeal to the
    usual school run brigade.
