It had a lot of discussion back in 2020, when National supported the
Bill put through by the then Labour government; with Nicola Willis
speaking in favour at that time.

Some of you maybe old enough the remember The ongoing news over Germaine Geer >and her use of the word bullshit in public. (Back in the early 70s). The >Press kept refering to it but it took a week for it to publish the word.

Now we are on the verge of cu*t being equal to fuck.
In context, it was probably more equivalent to calling a male MP a
prick - and that would have hardly raised an eyebrow . . .

It has now effectively been given the OK to say in parliament as the
Speaker did not object, but that may take some time as it was a

No, it was started by a betrayal of Willis in going back on her
support for the pay parity legislation put through by the then Labour government, doing it without notice, and also doing it after many
months of surreptitious preparation that did not include any
consultation with even political advisers and the public service. That
led an experienced political journalist that under previous
governments was seen as supporting National more than Labour
indicating that this was an appalling betrayal of women.

The reality that so many women (and some men) can not look forward to
pay increases that even meet inflation is not likely to be helpful to
our hospitals, schools, and care workers - more are likely to move
elsewhere or look for other jobs - which is likely to mean that the
government will miss other election promises. Sadly we still have a
way to go before the next election; many are wondering how much worse
    this government can get.

Some of you maybe old enough the remember The ongoing news over Germaine Geer

It has now effectively been given the OK to say in parliament as the >>Speaker did not object, but that may take some time as it was a >>distraction.
Let's not forget that it was started by an incompetent and abusive faux >journalist.
Now you are just being stupid - Nicola Willis made the indefensible
policy u-turn, but she has never been and never will be a journalist.
If you google the journalist who wrote the article, you will get:
"Andrea Vance is a senior journalist at Stuff. Born in Northern
Ireland, she worked in the Press Gallery at the New Zealand Parliament
for nearly a decade, first with Stuff and then TVNZ. She spent seven
years as an investigative journalist with the News of the World and
was night news editor at the Scotsman."

There was moreover no problem with Brooke van Velden using the word in Parliament - no requirement to withdraw and apologise, no
remonstration from the Speaker - it was a deliberate use of the word
by a Minister of the Crown, and is now clearly an acceptable
parliamentary word. It would indeed be good if it did become a word
less appropriate for our current coalition government, but that was a deliberate decision of the current government to endorse the use of
    the word.

In the spirit of that decision by your government, Tony, I am sure you
will be sanguine when I refer to your argument above as demonstrating
that you are a prick - for sure a largely irrelevant small prick in
comparison, but a prick nevertheless. Many thousands will bleed from
the prick dealt by the mistakes of Willis - a prick from you Tony is
    not usually noticeable.

The legislation that is being abandoned by the current government
without any notice or consultation was endorsed by many of the same
politicians when it was passed in 2020 by the previous government. It
is taking millions of dollars from poorly paid women to pay for most
of a tax reduction for landlords - it represents both incompetence and
betrayal of women by the government. Now the current government does
have a majority of men, so it could be said that by not sacking Willis
for her incompetence / gross mistakes they all deserve to be regarded
as pricks, by using the c-word for Willis alone Vance was at least
being honest, but perhaps a little generous to the incompetent Prime
Minister who should have had a "cabinet reshuffle" long ago . . .

The girl-math budget will indeed cut deep; a cut that will not be
    healed by the next election.

I note your suipport of the use of such an abusive word by Vance. No surprise

It has been supported by the Speaker and all parties in government for
use in the house - the word was used by an ACT party Minister, and the
ACT Party believe in free speech, but they do appear to have reached
an agreement with the National Party that the use of the word is >>acceptable. Do you agree with the decision made by ACT and National? >>Winston Peters appeared to be concerned about a fall in standards, but

the betrayal has rightly given rise to strong language that has been
justified both by the news organisation for which it was written, and
by the reaction to it - repetition by another Minister has made it a
legitimate word to use in Parliament - even Winston Peters was not
prepared to dispute the use of the word.

More of your silly immature "argument" there Tony? It may well result
in more people making sure they see the comments that you had no
rational response to - sometimes the truth hurts, Tony - in this case
the betrayal of women by the now more demonstrably inadequate Minister
of Finance is reality - all your silly deletion of a post because you
have no argument against it shows is your disappointment and personal inadequacy . . .

It may be acceptable to you but Vance's use of it absolutely was not. She and
you seem to share some low bar values.
It was a strong word to use, but justified in the exceptional
situation we find ourselves in, where a National Party Finance
Minister who supported a law change only a few years ago has not
supported its reversal due to economic mistakes that she has made -
the betrayal has rightly given rise to strong language that has been >>justified both by the news organisation for which it was written, and

prepared to dispute the use of the word.
None of that justifies Vance using it. You are deliberately being obtuse.

Of course her use of the word was justified - while there has been a discussion, the organisation that published it has justified its use,
the word has been justified by Parliament by an ACT party politician
repeating the word in parliament with no objection being made. It is
as justified as my saying that you are being prick in disputing the
use of a word that conveys real feelings about the sabotage of
promises made and the abandonment of due process for righting wrongs
in regard to pay equity. I doubt that anyone involved in the Bill to
reverse promises made before the last election is surprised that it
was seen as a severe betrayal - but it is perhaps not surprising that
ACT1stNat have not admitted publicly that they had to find money to
gloss over numerous mistakes by the government, and in particular by
    Nicola Willis.

The abuse I removed was you using large amounts of sarcasm and delberately twisting what I wrote.
When people read what you write (when you are lost as in this thread) they know excatly what you are doing - you are so transparent and yet you think you are being clever - deluded is what you are.
