" He said they were wrong to have asked van Velden, in the House, if she
agreed with Vance’s original column - as it had opened the door for the Government to focus on language rather than policy."

Better late than never, as the saying goes.

Good to see an apology and an acceptance that they could have done better.

No such apology from the ACTNats though. For all they got upset about
the word used in a news article, van Velden has now legitimised its
use; with no objection from Luxon or Peters. The real harm though is
to women, and the focus has rightly returned to the appalling reversal
of a policy that National worked on with the previous government, and
which Nicola Willis spoke in favour of.

It is clearly a direct result of their changes to reduce taxes for
landlords, making many wealthy people more wealthy again - and they
have stopped building houses for those most in need. Lies, deception
and acting in the interests of those that donated to their campaign is
the sign of a government with low morals, no respect for democracy,
    and no respect for fairness.

As above you are describing yourself and the Grens.

Are the Grens friends of yours, Tony? Sound a bit subbish . . .

Of course the Act1stNats believe in pay rises for themselves - the
same pay system they pretend they do not like (but supported in 2020!)
produced pay rises for members of parliament recently - comparisons
with a wide rage of other occupations.
    See: https://newsroom.co.nz/2025/05/13/cabinet-wipes-33-pay-equity-claims-ahead-of-taking-pay-rise/
The Prime Minister gets a 2.41% increase of $12,000 taking him to
    $510,300

The way those decisions of the Remuneration Authority are worked out
    are shown here: https://www.remauthority.govt.nz/assets/Uploads/review-of-mps-salaries-and-allowances-2023-24.pdf

The government knew of this work, and that it was based on the same
system as was being used for the pay equity negotiations that they
have stopped - they could have concluded this determination in the
bill they passed under urgency, but that may have risked some of them
not staying "sorted - you know, wealthy".

Contrast that with the government under Jacinda Ardern when the
country was facing huge problems due to Covid - they put a halt on all ministerial pay increases, and also paused increases for heads of
government departments - but of course the current "Me First"
governments would not dream of treating themselves as badly as they
treat others - are you happy that they exempt themselves from
restrictions they impose on others, Tony?

You are really losing it, Tony - it must be hard for you to have such confirmation that Willis is as incompetent as Luxon, and that they are reversing their own policies from not long ago because Willis botched
the Cook Strait ferry issue and the handout to landlords, and now is
in severe budget trouble - poor Luxon is just bewildered . . . .

    WHo cares?

It is the same process that the pay equity settlements were using - it
compared MP and Ministerial salaries with a wide range of other
occupations and determined an increase that was around the level of
inflation - Luxon and Willis would have known it was coming out just
as they were stopping the same process for others; they did not care
that they benefited from a process that they were denying to others -
hypocrisy and dishonesty are however what you expect from
    ACT1stNational, don't you Tony . . .

Most are not affiliated with any party, but support one or more
    parties on many issues.
I don't, and many others do not. Far more than you are prepared to believe. >>>Intelligent people support good ideas, the party that proposes them is >>>irrelevant (in every way).

Something that you rarely do - but you did lie!
No, I said that ACT, NZ First and National are not as bad as Trump -
    that was not a lie.
I did not refer to that.
Then you should have been clearer

I then said that they have disappointed many of their former
supporters - that is also true - as demonstrated by political polling
    No, that was the lie.
I have given one reason why it is true - why do you claim they have
not disappointed many of their previous supporters?

I then said that those they have rewarded for their political
donations is also true - and I picked the example of Philip Morris the >>tobacco and vaping company.
    Another lie.
No, the ACT1stNats changed the laws to increase the number of New
Zealanders who can buy tobacco products, and allowed wider sale of
vapes which are seen by many as an introductory drug leading to later
use of tobacco and a path to other drugs - and we have seen a turn
backwards from the reduction in tobacco use that had been happening
    under the previous government.

It does appear that you are easily confused, Tony.
Not at all you are a liar.
Which you have not been able to demonstrate - but then you are an
    idiot.

It is off topic - if you want a new topic then start it.
No; it is an illustration that the government will put rewarding
political donations ahead of sensible policy - the only people that
benefit from selling more cigarettes and vapes are the tobacco
companies and the parties they donated money to. They rewarded
political donations with earlier deaths of New Zealanders . . .
    Just more lies.
Denial is of course no argument at all. You are an Idiot.
