This is worse than your usual diatribe Rich - it is also out-of-date.

However I agree with the thrust of the article. National were silly
enough to reduce taxes for some when the Government (ie us) faces
unprecedented levels of indebtedness through careless spending.
Together with ACT and NZF they lack the courage to initiate change on
a scale required to get us moving forward.

Growth in the economy will not be enough on its own to address the
financial issues the Government faces - we also need a hatchet job on
those in the civil service who do not normally interact with the
public as part of their job. I am looking at the legions of
'communications specialists' and middle to senior managers.

I am also intrigued about the 'book-balancing' suggestions released
today by the Taxpayers Union. The reality is that the current
Government is beset with goals and deliverables that don't add up to
much. We need a Government to turn things around and Labour/The
Greens/Maori Party are an even worse prospect than the nervous ninnies
    in Government now.

Well Frank Macskasy clearly does - most is a statement of facts, Tony
    - are any of these wrong:
    "As reported :

The big indicators at Tuesday's Half Year Economic Fiscal Update
(HYEFU) included unemployment peaking in mid-2025 at 5.4 percent
before declining, core revenue being down to $13b in the forecasts
through to 2028, and a trade policy uncertainty spike in response to
    incoming US President Donald Trump.

That $13 billion shortfall in revenue equates to National’s profligacy
    when it came to:

$14.725 billion personal tax cuts over 5 years to 2027/28

$2.9 billion over four years for interest deductibility for landlords’ residential investments/speculation

$300 million projected penalty break fee for cancelled iReX ferries

$216 million lost in cutting excise/tax revenue on Heated Tobacco
    Products over 4 year period

A simple bit of arithmetic comes to a total of government revenue lost
of $18.141 billion over four to five years.

By extraordinary coincidence, it matches almost dollar-for-dollar the
$18 billion this government will have to borrow for the next three
    years.

That’s not even including a projected $800 million paid in
unemployment benefit to increasing numbers of people losing their
jobs, and we have nearly $19 billion in red ink.

As the recession - exacerbated by savage government cuts - impacted
the economy, Core Crown tax revenue was $12.9 billion down from
    previous Treasury forecasts.

Minister Willis urgently needs to take remedial classes in maths."

Indeed there are a few opinions, but while your brief response clearly >demonstrated that you are unable to provide "alternative facts", I am
pleased that you do not disgree with the last sentence, which I accept

Sorry that your ability to post a cogent paragraph has deteriorated but if you need more words from me then here you are.
The original post contains almost nothing of value. There, is that clearer?
I am always happy to help the afflicted.
