• Memorial: Dorothy J. Heydt

    From Dorothy J Heydt@21:1/5 to All on Wed May 29 23:05:18 2024
    [Hal Heydt]
This is just notice. I don't expect anyone to actually show up,
but you (collectively) are welcone to so.

Per her wishes, there will be a Memorial Mass for Dorothy J.

    my deepest sympathies.

I would be there if I could.

    [Hal Heydt]
    Thank you.

I'm only having it--belatedly--done because it was one of her
final wishes. The other two (taking care of the cats for the
rest of their natural lives and trying to stay alive until all
the grandchildren are adults) will simply take time.

Well...I expect to be around for some years yet. I promised her
to try to stick around until all the grandchildren are adults.
The youngest is 3, so the goal is another 18 years.

One touching point is that, after losing the Clockwork Alchemy
con for two years (2020 and 2021), at the 2022 con they were
still able to get the intended GoH from the 2020 effort: Particia
Wrede. She and Dorothy got time to sit and chat. They had
coressponded for about 30 years, but never met before then. It
was the last con Dorothy ever went to.

That's kind of you. I should probably note that she didn't drink
alcohol. (Not a moral stance, it gave her nausea.)
