• AKICIF: USB ports on monitor

From Joy Beeson@21:1/5 to All on Mon Jan 13 23:24:09 2025
I just noticed that there are two USB ports on top of my vertical
monitor -- what would be the left side if I were running it
    horizontal.

The resident engineer speculated wildly that they might be for
charging one's phone. Do any of you know of a use for a USB port on a
    monitor?

General utility. Computers these days may not have enough USB ports and
they may be in inconvenient places.

The monitor will act as a USB hub. You could--for instance--connect
your keyboard and mouse to those ports.

My phone is hooked up to a monitor port as I type this. Not only does
it charge my phone, but I can transfer photos and music between my
phone and my computer, backup the phone, etc.

As said, just a hub. I have two external backup hard drives on mine.
