These questions are about the R-rated and the PG-rated version of "Saturday Night Fever". (I'm going to lend to a friend of mine tapes of both the R-rated and the PG-rated versions. My friend asked me why there were two versions, and I didn't know either.)
Were both versions released theatrically? If not, then which one was? Why
did Paramount and/or the producers come up with both of them? (I've noticed that the PG-rated one is shown on premium cable channels as well as on basic cable channels.)
Thanks in advance.
