Is this going to be a geriatric Buffy trying to run around and do all the gymnastics and whatnot that she used to as a teenager, or is she going to be kind of a Watcher type, mentoring a new young Slayer?

It's considered likely probably because most of them have nothing else going

She does not. Brooke Burke took over the hosting duty in 2023 of PENN
& TELLER: FOOL US.

Yeah. Even the decent episodes that he allowed to be credited to others

That's the main reason I question the ability to recapture the magic
(the lack of Whedon being involved in the project.) I get that he did
some bad things and they wouldn't want him on the set but without him
being involved in the writing it's doubtful the show makes it past a
first set of episodes. Not that it's that likely it survives to a
second season even if he was involved as most shows don't do that
well.

The story goes that Hannigan was an asshole to Benson (was basically a

got away with it.
Benson eventually got fed up with the situation, and left the show/was written out.

when a lot of actresses pretty much quit the business. I get the

Same for Dushku who hasn't acted since "Bull" and the accompanying

Benson rarely acts these days, and it felt like she was transitioning to directing. Trachtenberg is another one who hasn't acted in ages, and the
last thing I think she did was host a "true crime" show, and I think
only did that for one season.
I could see Hannigan being up for a "Buffy" revival series. But I'd bet

interested in coming back, or won't come back.

No idea. Just looked at her Instagram and it looks like she's spent

I liked him too but acting is a rough gig. Even if you have the looks
and some acting ability you still need a good deal of luck. I guess he
didn't have the luck needed to keep his career going and not enough dedication to keep hitting his head against that rejection brick wall.

I never watched Star Trek Enterprise because of the lack of UPN and once I was spoiled on the ending, I never watched it later.
I'd probably watch a reboot but i'm one of those fans who felt the show went downhill in later seasons due to choices they made. (spike, cough, spike)
Nothing can really repeat the "High school is hell(mouth)" metaphor from the first three years.

What's the point? If memory serves, it ended with Sunnydale being destroyed and a bunch of slayers leaving on a school bus.
I really hate attempts to cash in on nostalga.

Ian (One we know won't be returning is Amber Benson. I would put >>>>>>> heavy odds against either Eliza Dushku or Michelle Trachtenberg

Why wouldn't Amber Benson return? Did she have a falling out with
someone? I know she's barely acting anymore, in any event.
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0072435/
She apparently hates Alyson Hannigan's guts. (I think she also came to >>>>> despise Whedon, though I don't think that matters anymore.)
Why was that? I'm not up on all the soap opera stuff of their
private lives
except what came out about Joss. I got the impression tho that
Alyson was
one of Joss's favorites since she was about the only one who didnt
come out
saying anything about him.
You've answered your own question.
The story goes that Hannigan was an asshole to Benson (was basically a
"mean girl" to her), and because Hannigan was one of Whedon's "pets"
she got away with it.
Benson eventually got fed up with the situation, and left the show/was
written out.
If Hannigan is involved, Benson won't be.
Aside from that, I kind of get the feeling that Benson isn't acting
much
these days.
Except for David Boreanaz, who among the cast is really is that active? >>>> Alyson had a nice career with the American pie movies and How I met your >>>> mother but most haven't done a lot since Buffy.
A lot of them are hitting Anim's magic "turned 40 or 50" age, which is
when a lot of actresses pretty much quit the business. I get the
impression that Charisma Carpenter is pretty much retired now. Same
for Dushku who hasn't acted since "Bull" and the accompanying lawsuit.
Benson rarely acts these days, and it felt like she was transitioning
to directing. Trachtenberg is another one who hasn't acted in ages,
and the last thing I think she did was host a "true crime" show, and I
think only did that for one season.
I could see Hannigan being up for a "Buffy" revival series. But I'd
bet most of the other actresses associated with the show either aren't
interested in coming back, or won't come back.
That Buffy podcast I mentioned--"Slayers: A Buffyverse Storu," 9
episodes in Oct. 2023--had several of the BtVS actors: James Marsters,
Charisma Carpenter, Emma Caulfield Ford, Juliet Landau, Amber Benson and
Tony Head. I imagine they might be interested in a sequel.
--Robin
Emma Caulfield is one of the few others that I could see coming back -
but didn't her character die?!
Head as well.
Landau seemed to disappear after "Buffy".

And what happened to Matt Keeslar, the Middleman himself? IMDb lists
only four credits after "The Middleman" in 2008, the last in 2015.
From Wikipedia:
Keeslar retired from acting in 2010, citing financial difficulties and
a lack of work, and went on to pursue a career in science. He wrote an
essay about his struggles with his acting career and subsequent
decision to enroll at Portland Community College.[3] He graduated Phi
Beta Kappa from Reed College with a biology degree in May 2014. His
biology thesis explored the effects of antimalarials on the brains of
frogs.[4]
Keeslar became a practicing PA-C (certified physician assistant). He
is an instructor of urology at the Oregon Health & Science
University's School of Medicine.[5]

This is great stuff, thanks! I knew nothing about the comic.
What a shame about the show--why didn't people watch it? And it's a
shame that Matt Keeslar left acting. He acted for 16 years and Middleman
was the only regular role he ever had, and it was just 12 episodes. I
don't remember his guest spot in other shows, but he was in several
shows that I watched, so I must have seen him.

Acting is a tough business. There are so many actors. Every day in
stories on Deadline I see (lots of) names I've never heard of before.

I agree. It's Lauren Velez de-aged. Also, I really like Molly Brown as teenage Deb, but it's a somewhat different character.
I also never recall thinking when I watched the original show how absurd it is
that the Miami-Dade Forensics Department is basically just a large closet off
the side of the homicide detective's bullpen. A major city like Miami? They'd
have their own building. How has Horatio Caine not thrown a fit over this?
In olden days when film was a thing, I worked for a retail photography
store that was also a supplier to big customers. We had the police department. Intelligence (the undercover photographers) were at the well-known former police precinct on Maxwell Street (now a police
station again for University of Illinois at Chicago), and the
crime-scene photographers were at the police headquarters complex, three adjacent buildings connected at upper levels whose floors didn't match.
The place was a joke, 'cuz there was also a courthouse (for felony arraignments but not trials) and a police precinct. Cops, prisoners,
lawyers, judges, and visitors all shared the same elevators.
There were police forensics sharing buildings with detectives at the
time. In the current system, in which detectives were removed from
police stations and placed into new Area police stations (that also had
a local police precinct and an arraignment courtroom), there are
certainly police forensics in those buildings shared with detectives.
The one thing I never bought about the original Dexter was the guy who
stuck his hands in the blood brought donuts for everyone. That was unappetising.

still lives in the Palisades her home is one that survived. https://www.instagram.com/p/ClxBK_QL1oQ/?img_index=1

Charisma lived in Pacific Palisades. I wonder if she still has a house?
No idea. Just looked at her Instagram and it looks like she's spent
the last month living in New York City. No mention of her home burning

As a 'celebrity', she probably owns about 10 houses all in different
places, but only actually lives in one of them.

I'm doubting Charisma Carpenter was ever "big" enough for that. She
started out as a profession cheerleader (they get paid peanuts!), and
then never headlined her own TV show, instead just being supporting cast
in two shows.
My guess is that she did well enough to own a nice house in a place like L.A., but likely not better than that.
But she may have married "rich", I don't know...
