The Tm Hanks skit is getting all the controversy but I thought SNL showed its true cowardice when they did the bit about "skits we can't show anymore",
where they highlighted all the politically incorrect bits they've done over
the years but could never make it on air in today's climate.

They showed Rob Schneider in a mustache and sombrero doing a cartoonish
Mexican accent, they showed their sketches mocking pedophilia, they showed
John Belushi in his famous samurai skit. But then they got to the blacks (and the actors who played blacks but who weren't black-- gasp!), and all of sudden the speed of the montage quintupled and all the faces were pixellated. They showed 30 pixellated faces in 10 seconds, then kept on going as if that hadn't happened.

So let me get this straight... they revisit pedophilia with no problem and
they can mock every other race/ethnicity (even while acknowledging they shouldn't have) and still show it on screen-- because, presumably, members of those races are considered grown adults and can handle it-- but we can't even show blacks being mocked for a millisecond and even then we have to pixellate out the faces.

It's so infantilizing. They're treating blacks-- and only blacks-- like unruly children around whom we have to walk on eggshells.

I see it differently in regards to the Doug routine. Sure, the guy has
an issue when a black man approaches him but he's shown to be a good
hearted man who knows more about black history and culture than the
black players he's competing against. So it looks like the black
players are the ones being shown as ignorant. Not that anyone is
getting up in arms about that. It's the same idea that the skit was
built around the first. Doug is the more intelligent player than the
blacks he is against and is shown to have a good heart but is a bit
nervous when approached by a black man.

Wait, they cannot mock PDF files now?

    Was Alex Baldwin included?

The soft bigotry of low expectations.
