• What Did You Watch? 2025-03-26 (Wednesday) & 2025-03-27 (Thursday)

    From Ian J. Ball@21:1/5 to All on Fri Mar 28 05:46:12 2025
Sorry - yesterday was my "work-from-home" day, and I didn't feel like
posting one of these yesterday morning... So this will be a two-day
    catch-up.

As usual, I haven't watched anything since soaps. I'm starting to create another backlog of streaming shows to watch, but I don't really have the
time to binge through them right now - I may try to start "School
Spirits" this weekend... So soaps it is:

soaps: DOOL - Wed's & Thur's ep's. More fallout from Tate ratting out
Doug III as the thief to Julie... Of course now Holly The Brat wants to
dump Tate - her motive of wanting to dump Tate in order to boff Doug is transparent! - Holly is as bad as her mom!! When NuSophia hears the news
from Doug that Holly may be dumping Tate, she virtually drools. (Really
wish the old Sophia actress was still playing the role.) And Melinda
Trask claims to have sold the stolen necklace to JJ (who should have
arrested her!)... Meanwhile, after overhearing Philip and Stephanie
talk, Xander is convinced they're having an affair - Sarah tries to talk
Xander out of doing anything about it, but he confronts Philip and Alex overhears. Meanwhile, outrageously, Sarah wants Stephanie to play along
with the idea to Alex - if Stephanie does, she's as dumb as a box of
rocks, and for once deserves the romantic disaster that will befall her!
Thur's ep instead ends with Stephanie seemingly ready to tell Alex the
truth - that Philip is a fraud!
GH - Wed's ep. Lulu and Brook Lynn continue to clash and Brook Lynn basically calls Lulu and EVOL! bitch! and later Lulu wonders to Cody if
Brook Lynn is right about that (she is!!). As I predicted, dumb Kristina
walked in before Ava could let Sonny righteously die from a heart
attack, so Kristina orders Ava to leave and saves Sonny. Later, Ava
tells Ric that something is seriously wrong (physically) with Sonny...
The new city councilman character played by Daniel Cosgrove (he goes all
the way back to BH, 90210!) continues to agitate against Laura and
Jordan. Drew is outraged that Curtis seems to be working with Tracy
    against him.

I also put "Jupiter Ascending" on in the background yesterday - I had no
idea that a young Vanessa Kirby was in this playing Mila Kunis'
scantily-clad roommate. Nor that Eddie Redmayne was in this as the main villain... This is one movie that would definitely benefit from 4k,
though I was watching it off an HBO cable channel, so no such luck.

    What did you watch?

    catch-up.

    What did you watch?

My usual shows, Good Cop/Bad Cop and Berlin ER, plus the first two
episodes of the new series The Studio.

Good Cop/Bad Cop S1E06 - a young woman blows up an electrical substation
and a cell tower in Eden Vale, then launches a bizarre crime spree
across town with her fiancee. The police work to solve the crimes but
are distracted: the Chief had a serious fight with his girlfriend and
Lou is seriously upset that both her brother and her father knew that
her mother was having an affair *before* her parents were divorced.

Berlin ER S1E06 - Dr. Weber has resolved to kick his drug habit and
begins the shift looking and acting far more positive that his
colleagues expected but goes the other way when his withdrawal symptoms
begin. Dr. Ertan, whose younger brother was beaten into a coma by the
police while caught up in a demonstration discovers which cop did the
deed and confronts him. Dr. Parker, whose bad advice cost a patient part
of his leg, apologizes to the patient and assures him that she will not
oppose the lawsuit that he has filed against her. Dr. Kohn finds himself treating his fiancees father, makes a grievous error that costs him his
life, and then covers it up.

The Studio S01E01 and S01E02 - Seth Rogan stars as studio executive Matt Remick, who finds himself promoted to the head of the studio. Remick
fancies himself a creative with a deep and abiding love of high quality
films but immediately finds himself having to deal with crass commercial considerations and the vanity of his fellow executives, directors, and
actors as each schemes to get what THEY want, with the quality of the
final product a negligible consideration and costs even less so. Remick
himself seems to genuinely care about films but finds himself unable to
resist all the tensions that pull him away from the right path. He's
also a screwup of monumental proportions, as becomes particularly
obvious in the second episode. The chaos that occurs in this episode is reminiscent of a Chaplin silent film.

If you like celebrities, you'll find this show sprinkled with familiar
faces, playing some version of themselves, including Martin Scorcese,
Sara Polley, and Greta Lee. The rest of the cast is a mix of new and
familiar with the latter consisting of Seth Rogan, Bryan Cranston,
    Catherine O'Hara, and others.

I've already developed a bit of a like/hate relationship with the show.
I *hate* the way everyone manipulates Remick (and pretty much anyone
else that might help them get ahead), particularly the ass-kissing. But
I can see that Rogan's character has his heart in the right place, even
if he is far too weak to express it. I'm going to give this a bit more
time to see if Remick can get his act together.

I have watched a couple of these. On the fire stick one of the links for a
WILD CARDS episodes was broken and took me to episode two of this instead. I’m still undecided about it.

    What did you watch?

    Hey, thanks for asking!

I watched the most recent episode of WILD CARDS, and realized that the
episode before it hadn’t been caught by my DVR nor was it available on The
CW app, but I tracked it down, it was the one with the bomb, neither was
    very good.

I watched the first two episodes of GOOD COP BAD COP because they literally forced it on me coming from WILD CARDS. Verdict is still out.

While I was in The CW and feeling dirty, I watched a couple newer episodes
of PENN & TELLER FOOL US with new hostess Brooke Burke. First time I’ve
seen it in four years since they went political. It was nice to see again.
Any idea what happened to Willow?

The first two episodes of season two of VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA in
the wee hours of the morning

    DOCTOR ODYSSEY S01E12 “sophisticated ladies“
Shania Twain is pregnant by the captain Jacqueline Smith has cancer and her
boy toy isn’t handling it well, Donna Mills has Covid and is being a bitch.

Westerns for background noise, including high noon.

Several people sent me videos of Rachel Ziegler doubling down on working
hard to make people hate her. She’s got one where I think she’s drunk and she’s doing Charlie Sheen’s “winning“ schtick. And another telling us to
vote for Kamala Harris, and to unfollow her if we don’t like it. And of course, watching Snow White in an empty theater.

I think you'll like this. Leo Kearse piles on with the haters and then
presents a video from other haters of Zegler and the movie:

Oh! Through a weird series of free associations I fell down a literal
rabbit hole starting with a video about it happened one night and how Bugs Bunny eats carrots because he’s imitating Clark Gable even though rabbits don’t really eat carrots into what was the movie that Edith Keeler was run over by the lumbering milk truck while trying to see Which brought up that
the guardian of forever appears in Star Trek STD. So I tracked down what
turned out to be a very special two-part episode and watched it.

God talk about crap that’s even worse than Rachel Ziegler.

The guardian shows up and throws Michele yo Into the mirror universe where
she horribly tortures and finally kills people I was glad to see get it. It
was almost completely unfathomable even after I did a lot of outside
reading. It did answer some questions about section 31. But then I had to
go do more outside reading to figure out where section 31 fit into the
timeline and it makes absolutely no sense given what the guardian said.

They clearly spend a lot of money on this garbage, none of which goes
    towards the script.
