Former Governor Scott Walker (R-WI) repeatedly fact-checked CNN anchor Abby Phillip during a Tuesday evening interview, pushing back as she tried to
claim that Elon Musk said his Department Of Government Efficiency project
would cut Social Security while speaking at a recent town hall event in Wisconsin.

Walker interrupted Phillip several times throughout the interview, refuting
her claim she attributed Democratic talking points.

Phillip brought Musk into the discussion, noting that he had poured millions
of dollars into the Wisconsin Supreme Court race, and then referenced a
recent town hall in Green Bay, asking, “Is it a risk for Republicans to put
all their eggs in that basket — not only did he spend the money, he came to
the state. He came to the state, he talked about cutting Medicaid, Social Security through DOGE, bringing those issues up —”

“Actually, he never talked about that. He explicitly said in Green Bay that
he would NOT cut social security,” Walker pushed back.

“Well, he talked —” Phillip tried to cut Walker off. “— at his rallies.”

“That’s exactly what he said,” Walked continued. “Other people said that, but
I was there! I watched him! He did not say he was going to cut Medicaid.”

“All right, well, other people at his rallies, who work for DOGE, who work
for Elon Musk’s organization, talked about those issues,” Phillip tried
    again.

“No,” Walker was not having it. “I was at the rally, not a one of them said that.”

“Do you think that —” Phillip said.

“That’s what the protesters said, but none of the people there actually said that,” Walker said.

“Do you think that there are risks here?” Phillip finally got her question
out. “For Republicans and those issues being associated with Elon Musk?”

“There are if people believe the lies that people are saying about that, but that’s not at all what they said. If people believe that Medicaid and Medicare’s going to be touched, that’s just a flat — outright lie.”

Walker went on to say that Musk and DOGE had looked at Social Security and
had found people who were on the list to be paid who were 120 years old and obviously no longer living – and that the organization’s goal was to root out similar waste, fraud, and abuse in other departments as well.

Never interfere with a liberal's rantings about their made up
    realities.

Somewhere in America, there’s a coven of 100+year-old vampires who were living
quietly off Social Security. Now that Elon has cut them off, there’s going to be hell to pay.

I was shocked to discover that the last widow of a Civil War veteran
died only a few years ago and, with her death, the US stopped paying out veteran's benefits for that war.

I have long known that the last actual Civil War veteran finally died in
1959 (NOT a typo!) but it was only many years later that I learned that
a number of very old Civil War veterans married very young women late in
their lives and that those widows continued to receive veteran's
    benefits until their own deaths.

I can't help but wonder what inspired a very young woman to marry a very
old man. I assume it was a purely financial arrangement whereby an old
man could gift a young woman - maybe a grand-niece or grandchild of a
cousin - with a small but steady income for the rest of her life.

Doesn’t William Shatner wear one of those?

Ha ha - but there WERE widows of Confederate veterans long after WW2 -
in fact the last one died in 2020. What happened was that 80 and 90
year old veterans were marrying second cousins (who were in their late teens/early 20s) strictly to gift them their pensions.

I'm not going to speculate on whether sex was involved...
