Exactly what I thought but I quit after the pilot. It was a plenty to complain about show but not a sit back and enjoy it show.

FWIW, it gets better with every season:
Season 1 is rough (esp. the beginning and the ending), season 2 is good,
and season 3 has been better still.
. . . I liked that it used a lot of the vampire myths like needing an
invite and not liking garlic. . . .
