Oh yeah, I watched a Star Trek Voyager and a Star Trek Enterprise. Both
were pretty rotten. I had to keep reminding myself that enterprise is just
a holo novel being watched on the enterprise D, which is why it’s
completely out of continuity with everything. In this one, we find out
that data’s grandfather invented Ricardo Montalban. Not only that, but it
    was to be continued.

No one else has stepped up, so I guess I'll do today's WDYW?

    Yesterday, I got through:

soaps: DOOL - Wed's ep. Rafe is such a heel - I hope Jada dumps his ass,
which will be doubly-ironic if Sami does leave town any second now.
Meanwhile, Xander throws Kristen out on her ass. And I think Vivian is
going to screw over Philip and Kate, after they refused to do her
bidding, by telling Xander that she forged the letter that got Philip
    half of Xander's inheritance.

The Wheel of Time (Prime) - The last 4 episodes of season #3.
I probably won't have the time/desire to write a detailed review of
this, so in case I don't, here are the broad outlines:
Season #3 was the best season yet - as I told Anim: season #1 was
rough (esp. the beginning and the ending), season #2 was overall good,
    and season #3 was better.
Now, of course, "The Wheel of Time" book series is also supposed to
get better as it goes, and I think the book(s) adapted for season #3 are supposed to be among the book series' best, so maybe that's not
surprising. But unlike a show like, say, "Yellowjackets", at least this
show's getting better as it goes, not worse and worse.
This season opens with a barn-burner of an episode - I dunno that
I've ever seen so much crammed into a season premiere before.
This season should also put to rest any doubts about Josha
Stradowski as Rand al'Thor - I wasn't sure the guy could act myself back
in season #1, but he's improved with every season, and in season #3 he
    actually delivers.
I think they lucked out with Natasha O'Keeffe as Lanfear - she's
generally the most interesting thing on screen, so it's good that
O'Keeffe shines in the role and you can't take your eyes off her.
Of course they make the cute redhead Elayne, played by lovely
English actress, Ceara Coveney, a lesbian, just to irritate me. They do
give Coveney a whole song sequence in one of the episodes, so apparently
    she sings too.
They add Shohreh Aghdashloo as a scheming Aes Sedai to season #3 and
she's a welcome addition to the show.
I gather the season finale deviates greatly from the novels in
killing off a major player(? unless it's somehow faked?) - I have no
idea how they will handle that going forward.
This show has not been renewed for season #4 yet - I very much hope
it will be (and honestly I expect it too), as it's frankly better "The
Rings of Power" series. Hopefully they give the show a final 2-season or 3-season renewal soon.

I was kind of hoping for a new trailer for the upcoming movie, but all
we got was some behind the scenes footage. The new Superman movie is
probably my most anticipated movie of the year.

    I watched:

Law & Order - "Play with Fire Part 1" - In the annual cross over
episode, Benson show up at the regular police department and starts
trying to throw her weight around. But the commander of the regular
    unit isn't having it.

Law & Order: SVU - "Play with Fire Part 2" - Picking up where the last
episode ended, Team SVU is investigating sex trafficking involving a
priest. I think. I kind lost track of what was going on. But Stabler
showed up at the end to threaten someone.

Law & Order: Organized Crime - "Lost Highway" - I was expecting a three
part cross over, but this episode had nothing to do with the first two episodes. Instead Stabler gets sent undercover as at trucker and
basically goes Jason Statham on people, like he's out for revenge
beating them with a baseball bat.

I had no idea it would be a crossover, so I had to wait till SVU showed
    up on demand.

    That... sucked.

The criminal was telegraphed early. By the end of the episodes, he'd
committed an unbelievably lengthy list of crimes he couldn't have had
time to commit while keeping his day job.

One of the murders was Benson's fault. She and Brady (I thought they
were playing good cop/bad cop, but no) had a fight about questioning a
witness. The witness gets spooks and runs off, realizing the two of them
were idiots. In the next scene, she's a corpse.

The show featured brand-new technology in forensics that I'd never heard
of... nor had anyone in the cast. It's possible to get DNA to analyze
from semem ... off an exhumed three year old corpse. It's
possible to analyze semen ... off a corpse that had been burned. I
realize not all parts of the body burn at the same rate but the samples
    will have overheated.

One witness had been a drug abuser, but she went through a magical rehab
that washed and dry-cleaned her brain. It's less than a year and she's
already engaged to a saintly man... but hasn't told him even a single
fact of her life. From tv, I am aware that rehab tells you not to make
any major life decisions for a good year. Rehab is no cure, it's an
ongoing process "one day at a time" to maintain sobriety. That she made
those substantial life changes in so short a time was absurd.

And then we get testimony that's nothing but hearsay from her.

What's with Elizabeth Marvel? She was wearing that off-putting oddly
colored suit in court, oddly twisting her body to get around the defense
table, then standing at an odd angle in the well of the court.

Once again, no Mehcad Brooks, and no explanation.

I commented on this in a different thread:

I watched the first two episodes of this. They basically formed a mini-movie with Stabler going undercover as a trucker to help the FBI bust a cross-border drugs-and-guns smuggling operation. While there, he ends up meeting and befriending the kid of one of the lot lizards (hookers) and uncovering a coven of serial killers among the truckers who are traveling up and down the interstate abducting women and trading them to each other based on each guy's particulars 'taste'. Tragedy leaves Stabler leaning on Benson for emotional support, who shows up to visit him in the hospital and then stays on to work the serial murder case.

These shows just keep on getting more and more ridiculous on the "Order" side of things. These trials are approaching a 10-year-old's view of how things work.

In this episode we find Benson and Brady teamed as investigators, even though they both have entire divisions full of investigators that they supervise, and they find a witness who not only knows who did the murder but was a victim of rape from the guy as well from back when she was a drug addict. Except she's
an illegal who has somehow managed to not only detox herself but find a job
and get married and she won't testify because doing so would blow up her new life.

(I forgot to mention that ICE is portrayed and they always are on Dick Wolf shows as malevolent evil stormtroopers.)

So the entire team, from D.A. Baxter on down to both prosecutors (one from
each show) decide to leave her out and go with the evidence they have. But in typical L&O fashion, the trial does not go well for the state and so Baxter decides the hidden witness has to testify after all.

Except she couldn't. In reality, you can't leave someone off your witness list and then reverse course mid-trial and call them to testify. Maybe you could
get away with it if you genuinely only became aware of the witness mid-trial but this is someone the prosecution knew about all along. There's no way they could then suddenly spring the witness on the defense mid-trial and get away with it.

The defense raises a half-hearted objection and the judge doesn't even allow the lawyer to make an argument before overruling the objection with no justification for the record. She just says, "I'll allow it."

    No, no, no, no, no.

    No.

I got lost with this witness. Was she trafficked? The villain committed
a phenomenal number of crimes that he simply lacked the time to commit,
given that he was a full-time cop and had no henchmen. (I'm not sure what
the priest's role was.) White slavery and a brothel. I assume there was trafficking. She might have been a protected witness because of that.

(I forgot to mention that ICE is portrayed and they always are on Dick Wolf >shows as malevolent evil stormtroopers.)

Isn't the not-evil side of ICE supposed to investigate and protect
    victims of human trafficking?

Ahem. Price must go to court with as little evidence as possible, If
they have better evidence available, he shouldn't use it because
REASONS. I don't recall the name of the character of the prosecutor from
SVU. I couldn't figure out which one was first chair.

Confrontation clause, Sixth Amendment (I checked to make sure it's not
the Fifth). The judge ruled on the law over the commercial break; we
never heard Elizabeth Marvel argue against discovery.

Is right of discovery in criminal cases from common law only? I'm never
sure if that's inferred from the confrontation clause.

Worse still, SHE HAD NO EVIDENCE TO OFFER. Nearly her entire testimony
was hearsay! No objection from Elizabeth Marvel! See my other followup.

BTW, who is this on the show?

Phillipa Soo as Nurse Practitioner Avery Morgan

That sounds familiar. Almost like someone else posted similar

Like reading Ian long after you’ve read the original Robin.
