I know that "no one has Netflix" but, just in case anyone gets it in the
near future, I thought I'd write about iHostage, one of their new
    offerings.

It's a movie, not a series, and it runs for 1 hour 42 minutes. It's a re-enactment of something that really happened in Amsterdam, at the
Apple Store, in 2022. (I don't recall seeing anything about this in the
    news.)

You won't recognize anyone in it unless perhaps you follow Dutch cinema. Although the film is set in the Netherlands with most of the characters
being Dutch, quite a bit of the dialog is in English. You'll still want
the English subtitles though for the Dutch dialog. I would have lost
important bits of the story if I hadn't done that.

In a nutshell, a guy walks into the Apple Store, pulls out a submachine
gun and demands that everyone in the store stands still. In the ensuing
panic, which is made worse when he fires some warning shots, most of the customers and staff either flee the store or run upstairs to hide on the
second floor, which the gunman someone fails to notice. However, four
people hide in a closet on the ground floor and one guy is caught in the
open, becoming the lone hostage of the gunman (as far as he knows). The
police are notified, set up a cordon around the square where the store
is located, and call their equivalent of SWAT. The gunman reveals that
he has an explosive vest and demands a negotiator.

I'll leave the rest for you to discover.

IMDB gives it only a 6/10. The reviews at IMDB range from 1/10 to 9/10
so clearly there are people who really liked it and others who were underwhelmed. I rather liked it myself.

Be sure to watch the first bit of the end credits to learn about the
    aftermath of this event.
