CBS News host Gayle King took issue with those who referred to her eight minutes in space-- with an all-female, celebrity-heavy "crew"-- as "a ride", arguing that it was sexist and disrespectful to do so.
King went on to complain about the underlying sexist tone of those referring to the eight-minute space flight as "a ride", saying, "You never see a man, a
male astronaut, who's going up in space and they say, 'Oh, he took a ride.'
Katy Perry was also mocked for overblowing the importance of the trip. "Katy Perry out here acting like she was just stranded in space by Joe Biden for nearly a year," one commented after video circulated of the pop star kissing the ground.

If floating in space for 10 minutes makes you an astronaut, Gayle, then I'm a gynecologist.

BREAKING: Katy Perry had to stand in a puddle while waiting for her limo. She now claims to be a Navy SEAL.

Here's the thing. I didn't see anybody mocking her until she started >complaining about people mocking her and then it was all backlash.
Meanwhile, Whitney Cummings is mocking Shatner saying he didn't do anything >more than Gail King did so he deserves to be mocked. I have now blocked >Whitney Cummings.

Megyn Kelly was also scathing in her comments on this ride: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3TZGF3hZyI [14 minutes]
She did two other videos of further mockery in subsequent days.

Why were you following her in the first place?

Why? If you're not at the controls you're a passenger. While I've
never flown except as a passenger, I've certainly both driven and been
driven on land and never felt diminished by being a passenger.
And I totally fail to see how one's gender affects that fact so why
the H is it "sexist and disrespectful to do so"?
. . .
I've been both to Cape Canaveral and the adjacent air force base which

launched John Glenn was pretty cool) and reached just the opposite >impression.
One of the key moments in my teens was when I realized I'd never make
the short list never mind the actual list strictly due to my
citizenship. (This was long before Mark Garneau and other Canucks who
flew in the Shuttle)
