The day I learned Joe Biden is going to Hell sooner than expected, I watched:

    WE ARE THE 80'S

    WE ARE THE 80'S

    WE ARE THE 80'S

    THE SPONGEBOB BUS THEORY:
When Spongebob got trapped in Rock Bottom... I don't think it was a coincidence.

THE MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER HOUR SEGMENTS | TIME OF THE APES:
The Mystery Science Theater Hour opens with a simple title sequence: a wide shot of "Your Host," played by Michael J. Nelson (doing his impersonation of Jack Perkins), standing in a studio surrounded by images from that episode's film.

In the first half of the episode, the host introduces the movie and
summarizes the plot quickly. When the second half begins, he offers a short recap of what's happened so far, along with a few clips.

At the end of the hour, Mike returns one last time to preview part two or
share some final thoughts about the movie. https://youtu.be/kKqNwB96Yyc?si=l1kX2VyXs3aSKz1c

PEDRO PASCAL COULD TANK FANTASTIC FOUR WITH HIS POLITICS?:
Pedro Pascal is getting super political again, and we have to wonder if
his upcoming movies will suffer the "Rachel Zegler effect." Meaning, could
his heavy political opinions turn off audiences to the Fantastic Four and
The Mandalorian? Will Gina Carano's case benefit from this, as Disney doesn't seem to be shutting him down?

DOCTOR WHO "THE INTERSTELLAR SONG CONTEST" HONEST REVIEW BY A PRO SCI-FI WRITER:
Russell T. Davies hired trans activist Juno Dawson to write The Interstellar Song Contest for Doctor Who with Ncuti Gatwa and Varada Sethu getting really gay.

    FAMILY GUY:
"The Fat Lotus". Peter suspects Lois of betraying his trust with Quagmire at
    a swanky vacation resort.
Didn't they make a spoof about streaming shows a couple weeks ago? I was bored, TBH, but did laugh at Consuela refusing to clean up Brian's mess.

    KRAPOPOLIS:
"Ty Died". Ty is tired of his family thinking he's not important enough to
    be assassinated. He'll show them!
OK, I wasn't expecting the guy who wasn't sppsd to assassinate Ty actually
did it and I did enjoy their takes on the Hades mythology. Sisyphus is a hard worker, tho!

I've been (work) busy for days, which is why I haven't posted to RAT
much this weekend. I'm giving two of my three final exams today, which
means I'll be grading for the next few days, but hopefully won't be busy cover-to-cover anymore... We'll see.

Anyway, I haven't watched much over the past 2 or 3 days:

soaps: DOOL - Wed to Fri's ep's. Philip's scheme to steal the drug for
Bo goes awry (aside: Philip's nerdy friend does seem familiar - like the
same actor was on the show as a teen years ago...). When Xander finds
out, he threatens to kill Philip. Meh. 'Cos we know he won't... Alex
wants to publish Stephanie's trashy manuscript... then they have sex.
(Quelle surprise!) They claim to Marlena that they've found John
(off-screen) - then Susan Banks has a dark premonition. [roll]
GH - Thur's & Fri's ep's. Three main thrusts here. One: Carly and
Willow prepare for the coming custody hearing - Sonny is appalled when
he hears about Carly's scheme gone awry, and he goes to Willow to try to negotiate a deal. Two: Curtis has figured out that Drew is blackmailing
Portia - first he tells Nina (who secretly already knows!) about it,
then goes to confront Drew, while Ava pleads with Portia to come clean
before it's too late. (Can't wait for Portia's life to fall apart soon!)
Three: Lulu lets Cody in on her "Gio is Brook Lynn's son (and Brook Lynn
knows it [she doesn't!!])" theory, and then they both try to prove it...
Oh, and Alexis (and, separately, Lucky) try to track down the wreckage
of Ric's totalled car, but Ava and Ric are seven steps ahead of them!

golf - Anticlimactic. Jonathan Vegas led after Day 2 of the US Open, but Scottie Scheffler took over the lead on Day 3, and never looked back.
Scheffler led the entire way (most of the time, by a lot!) on the final
day - even upon bogeying the final hole, Scheffler still won by 5 strokes!
Anyone else who tried to challenge seemed to quickly fall apart -
the LIV tour guys really don't seem to be competitive anymore!
This is Scheffler's third major win. He really has been dominating
golf the last 2 or 3 years.

And that was pretty much all I've been able to watch.

Astrid Farnsworth: All right, so what am I looking for?
Dr. Walter Bishop: Anything that looks like it doesn't belong.
Astrid Farnsworth: I think this qualifies. Richard Nixon on a silver dollar. Dr. Walter Bishop: That's disturbing.

No scenes were actually filmed in Jacksonville, Florida despite the name
    of the episode.

Fringe S2E16 'Peter'. Walter has 1985 flashbacks while justifying inter-universe kidnapping to Olivia.

Despite being named after his character, this is the first episode to
not feature Joshua Jackson, apart for a small clip from a previous episode.

The episode's opening titles have been redone as though it were a show
from 1985, complete with an '80s version of the theme tune and
decade-specific fringe science topics such as "stealth technology",
    "virtual reality", and "in-vitro fertilization".

When the movie theatre from the alternate universe is seen, it is
showing "Back to the Future: starring Eric Stoltz". In fact, Stoltz did
play Marty McFly in Back to the Future (1985) for a few weeks. Michael
    J. Fox was originally unavailable, so Stoltz did some filming, but
realized that the part was not right for him. By that time, Fox had
become available and did the movie.

On the DVD commentary, Blair Brown says that to create her "1985"
hairstyle for the flashback scenes, she brought in to the hairstylists
some pictures of herself from Continental Divide (1981), and the
hairstyle she had in that actual 1980s movie is the model they used to
cut the wig for younger Nina's hair.

Dr. Walter Bishop: There's only room for one God in this lab, and it's
    not yours.

Dr. Walter Bishop: The Casimir Effect should produce a thinner, more
porous region of space-time. I only need to affect the area for long
enough to cross over to the other side with the vial of the cure. And...
and then, of course, recreate the effect to cross back again.
Dr. Carla Warren: Walter, you're trying to create a wormhole into
    another universe?
Dr. Walter Bishop: Yes! I think I just said that.

Fringe S2E17 'Olivia. In the Lab. With the Revolver'. IMDb sez: "The
Fringe team investigate a series of mysterious deaths caused by cancer
that seems to have been transmitted by touch. Olivia realizes the
perpetrator is after the kids who were part of the Coretexiphan trials."

Dr. Walter Bishop: When you open your mind to the impossible, sometimes
    you find the truth.

And that was pretty much all I've been able to watch.

    What did you watch?

    I watched:

Law & Order: SVU - "Post-Rage" - Season 26 finale. Team SVU go after a
psycho who is gouging out the eyes of therapists before murdering them.

Welcome to Wrexham - "All In?" and "High Hopes" - First 2 episodes of
season 4. They are really struggling to make this team which has been
on a multiyear winning streak and has international fame, feel like an underdog.

Found - "Missing While Dying" - Series finale. They pretty much wrapped everything up, but doing it in a way that they can quickly undo it if
the show comes back for a new season. Of the two kidnapping stories
they closed out with, one of them, I honestly couldn't tell if the
person was kidnapped or not. And the "rescue" for person involved the
police kicking the door down, without knocking, with guns drawn, and the
person they"recused" never said thanks or anything else to indicate they
were being held against their will. And I don't think they arrested the
person they were with. I'm still not sure if they were being held
against their will or not. Then there was the other kidnapping case,
where the person was clearly being held against their will, at gun
point. And the police apparently came to the location and all decided
to wait outside in secret for no other reason than so Gabby could go
inside and make a speech, then allow for a dramatic reveal when the
    kidnapper walked out.

Lilo & Stitch (Disney+) 2002 Disney animated movie. I never saw this
before now, but with a live action remake on the way I decided to see
what all the fuss is about. The movie opens in outer space with a group
of aliens putting a mad scientist on trial for creating an evil monster.
The monster is super intelligent and has no purpose of than to
destroy. The monster manages to steal a spaceship and escape to Earth
where it crash lands in Hawaii. The monster then pretends to be a dog,
which is not particularly convincing, but a troubled young girl named
Lilo, falls in love with her new "dog" (she names it Stitch) and doesn't
care that it looks weird. Meanwhile the aliens send a team to kill the monster, but they can't get a clear shot because the monster, which is
well aware there's a hit squad hunting him, keeps hiding behind the
little girl. This was actually an OK movie.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (4K disc) 2023, Seventh
entry in the Mission: Impossible franchise. This one opens with Ethan
Hunt (Tom Cruise) being sent on a mission to find Rebecca Ferguson's
disavowed MI6 character. Along the way his team (Ving Rhames and Simpon
Pegg) discover there is an evil AI out to take over the world, while the world's governments want to control the evil AI. To stop this from
happening Ethnan will have to team up with a thief (Hayley Atwell) who
has been caught up in this. Vanessa Kirby also returns as the arms
broker and Henry Czweny returns, reprising his character from the first
movie, who is now the director of the CIA. This is another solid entry
in the franchise. What makes this one stand out are the villains, and
this one has some good villains. Starting with the AI itself. I won't
spoil what the AI does, but it's good. Then there are the AIs two
henchman played by Esai Morales and Pom Klementieff. Both are good at
twirling their mustaches and as usual the stunts are great.

I was amazed that they actually seemed to wrap up all major storylines
up in the "Suits LA" finale. Yes, they easily could come back for

    Amazing.

It went from mediocre with a couple of episode that were better than
mediocre in part, to attrocious courtroom scenes. When the first client's

The episode's opening titles have been redone as though it were a

When the movie theatre from the alternate universe is seen, it is
showing "Back to the Future: starring Eric Stoltz". In fact, Stoltz
did play Marty McFly in Back to the Future (1985) for a few weeks.
Michael J. Fox was originally unavailable, so Stoltz did some
filming, but realized that the part was not right for him. By that

So that's how they think time travel works.

Huh?  Most of the episode was _set_ in the 1985. No time travel.

I thought I was quoting the episode, but I remembered it wrong, or I was >thinking of a different show.

I'm still convinced they retconned The Observers in later seasons.

Oh yeah, I think you were right. Walter was exiting the theatre when he said that.

I remember noticing the establishing shot was labelled "Manhatten" and
wondered how that slipped past the show makers.

Astrid Farnsworth: I think this qualifies. Richard Nixon on a silver

    Dr. Walter Bishop: That's disturbing.

No scenes were actually filmed in Jacksonville, Florida despite the

Oh, now I know what you are talking about. I'm not sure that was the

I'm still convinced they retconned The Observers in later seasons.

    Well, I'll find out.
