From Ubiquitous@21:1/5 to All on Sun May 25 04:30:41 2025
    I watched:

    DOCTOR WHO:
"Shada". hada: a prison built by the Time Lords for defeated would-be conquerors of the universe. A scientist named Skagra needs the help of one of the prison's inmates. He finds nobody knows where Shada is anymore, except
one aged Time Lord who has retired to Earth, where he is a professor at St Cedd's College. Luckily for the universe, Skagra's attempt to force the information out of Professor Chronotis coincides with a visit by the professor's old friend, the Fourth Doctor. This was a restored version with animated segments that was released in 2017 with a cameo at the end by bTom Baker.

    DOCTOR WHO:
"Leisure Hive". The Fourth Doctor and Romana II arrive on Argolis in search
of a peaceful holiday at the famed Leisure Hive. Instead they become
embroiled in both a takeover scheme by the Argolins' historic enemy the
Foamasi and the machinations of Pangol, child of the Generator.

Just golf, and two eventful episodes (Thur & Fri) of GH in which the
Nurses' Ball wrapped up, and the truth of Gio parentage was publicly
exposed! Meanwhile, in the Nurses' Ball show, they ended by torturing
the child actors by making them do a routine! And, at the end, NuMichael
showed up, and whisked his son away as Willow, with mouth agape, just
    looked on!

In the evening, I basically wrapped up my grading for the year (so, no
TV), before I hand my last final exams off to my student grader lackey!

SyFy isn't even trying. I guess Wick is better than wrestling. At
    least they are good movies.

    I watched:

Doctor Who (Disney+) "Wish World" - The penultimate episode, which
follows John Smith, who works for Unified National Insurance Team, and
is happily married to his wife Belinda. The two are raising their
daughter Poppy. But they begin to have doubts about the reality of it
all when a strange woman named Ruby knocks on the door and asks if they
ever question their reality. But there's no reason to have doubts about anything, especially when there is a nice man on TV who reads stories
about someone who calls himself "Doctor Who." The nice man on TV says everything will be OK. And it's very bad to have any doubts about what
the nice man on the TV says. If you do meet someone who has any doubts
about what the man on TV says, there's a number you can call to have the authorities take that person away. This episode wasn't as epic as some
of the other penultimate episodes, but it had lots of good build up and
a solid cliffhanger leaving me wondering what's going to happen next.
And where is a certain character who made a cameo in last week's episode?

Pee-Wee as Himself Part One (HBO) This is an excellent documentary about
Paul Reubens. Reubens started filming it before he died, then the
filmmakers finished it posthumously. The movie has lots of really funny interviews of Reubens, and it details his life from before he became
Pee-Wee Herman and had a lot of information about him that I wasn't
aware of or just never thought about. For example, while I was
generally aware of the fact that the character of Pee-Wee Herman
predates the 1985 movie, "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure," my awareness was
pretty much limited to knowing he had the HBO special. What I wasn't
aware of was Pee-Wee Herman was well established as a character well
before the movie. Obviously, that's why they made the movie, but it
never really registered that the character was already famous and
predated the movie by several years. Also interested was Paul talking
about being bitter and jealous after the success of the movie that it
was all attributed to Tim Burton, when he (and Phil Hartman and Michael
Varhol) are the ones who wrote the movie. It said written by Paul
Reuben in the credits, but he had spent years making sure no one in the
general public knew who Paul Reubens was, so all the notoriety went to
Burton instead. And when he said that I realized that I too for all
these years considered "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" a Tim Burton movie, and
it never crossed my mind that Paul Reubens originated the character and
wrote the script. And he picked Burton to direct the movie once the
script was finished. There's at least one more part. I'm looking
forward to finishing the rest of the documentary once I get a chance.
